As am I. But we need to look at this crisis on a more human level- with no borders or labels. They are families fleeing death, poverty, and persecution. What if it was your family? Your daughter/son? If the United States had a major crisis tomorrow (nuclear explosion, super volcano, large meteor impact) and we had to flee from our homeland to safety, do you think other countries would let us in their borders? Do you think they'd care now that Orange Man has done this? I don't think so.
-
Im sure canada would. Also thinking that we have no borders is one of the problems.
-
Canada probably would, but that's not the point. The point is that these people are suffering. They should be allowed to come to this country for a better life. As anyone who wants to live in this great country should.
-
They dont have that right
-
I never said it was. But, as the most powerful country in the world with the most wealth and being the biggest preacher of "freedom" and "the American Dream" I find it quite disappointing that there are Americans like you and others that think this is okay. The Irish immigrated when famine struck their homeland. The Jews immigrated to flee the 3rd Reich. Cubans immigrated when the communists took over. Armenians fled genocide. The U.S. has been a beacon of hope a safety for almost its entire existence. So, why can't Syrians flee to the U.S.? Why are they excluded?
-
What about the japs?
-
I wasn't going to include everyone. They were examples. Your point?

Edited by Oliver Queen: 1/31/2017 4:39:15 AMWe were at war with the Japanese. We put them in camps to make sure they werent agents. There is a thing called a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Yeah, and nearly every sane person and politician denounces what the government did to the Japanese back then. President Reagan apologized and paid reparations years later. You can't make a whole nationality/religion/race suffer because of the acts of a few extremists. If that's the case, then why don't we put all young white males in interment camps because they are the perpetrators of most mass shootings? It's this generalization that is wrong. Individuals are individuals. Segregating and banning people from entering the country because of the acts of a few is not conducive to a free society. Edited by Oliver Queen: 1/31/2017 8:34:15 AMHeres the thing. Im not giving up any liberty. No American is giving up their freedoms from this. You also say it like we are the only country that needs to take in refugees. There is a continent just by them that will glady take them.
Heres the thing. Im not giving up any liberty. No American is giving up their freedoms from this. You also say it like we are the only country that needs to take in refugees. There is a continent just by them that will glady take them.
Muslim Americans that have immigrated here legally and have family in other countries are very clearly giving up their liberty to see their family. And this anti Muslim rhetoric the Trump administration is preaching doesn't make those Americans feel any safer. I never said we should be the only ones that take in refugees. I'm saying we need to do our part.
-
What anti muslim thing are you talking about? Trump hasnt done anything like that. Weve been doing our part since 1945. Its time for the world to do their part.
