NEVER HIDE EXOTICS BEHIND RNG NIGHTFALL
Bungie if your not going to make nightfall optional matchmaking, stop hiding exotics in there hidden behind the terrible RNG system.
Yes some nightfall can be run solo, but not by me under the time limit for certain quests, and to struggle through without reward is just total pants.
Make ice breaker quest related like the new exotic machine guns.

We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on how Icebreaker should be earned and will take it into consideration along with the other players in this thread that hold a different opinion.

No exotics should be rare they should remove three of coins and make all exotics rng just like year one the reason exotics got nerfed is because kids like complained they were too hard to get so now bungie just hands them all out but nerfs them to the ground if you want a easy game go play cod

My biggest issue is I already have an ice breaker...but it's a yr 1. Why do I have to have RNG again to get it again. I already got it from RNG.

Anyone calling this guy a special snowflake, or someone that just wants handouts using year 1 as a parallel for this makes no sense. Exotics in year one had a [i]multitude[/i] of ways to obtain them. I could get a Gally drop in the nightfall, the raid, [i]random crucible matches[/i]. Even the exotic bounty exotics had [i]daily[/i], not weekly chances to obtain them. Locking the Icebreaker behind 3 chances a week is not the same so don't make sound like it is. My 2 cents. Already comment but figured I'd throw it out there for the whole thread to see. I don't want it handed to me, I want more opportunities for it to drop.

I agree because the only point of making something exclusive should be if it's a little too potent to just cram it into the game all at once. If the gun is more of a novelty, there's no point. But then again... Since the gun [i]is[/i] just a novelty, I'm only upset because I want it as a novelty. I would only ever run it maybe during a Solar Burn Nightfall or Heroic Strike, but nowhere else at all will I be using it.

Only good exotics can be locked behind RNG, so we do not run into Ghorn 2.0 when we were in year 1. The reason why Icebreaker can be locked behind RNG is because it is not relevant anymore because it was nerfed. Personally I only used it in crota at the bridge, and Vog during the oracles.

7 RepliesPeople are often quick to point out that this game is an MMO, or has MMO elements. Its meant to be played with other people. It's NOT a game that provides 100's of hours of content you can play solo like Fallout 4 or Skyrim, Final Fantasy, Witcher 3, etc. If your still running the game solo, perhaps you need to try to reach out and make friends. I personally think that having exotics/elite endgame loot drop via RNG from the nightfall is perfectly fine. The nightfall was not relevant when it was NOT providing a chance at some elite loot via RNG before the Icebreaker quest was introduced. IMO, having more content be relevant is always going to be a good thing. Sure, having hard but rewarding raids and nightfalls may exclude solo players, but its the social nature of the game. You need to make friends or join a clan in order to be able to enjoy this game to a maximum. I'm not sure why, nearly three years into this game, and most people still haven't figured this out yet.

1 ReplyThe last thing we need is more exotic handouts. These stupidly easy quests have gotten out of hand. Glad they went back to RNG. As for matchmaking, there are plenty of usable options at your disposal for finding a team.

1 ReplyI logged on to my Warlock and checked the mailbox and found a Icebreaker sitting in the mailbox. I got excited for a second and straight into my vault it went, never to use it again until solar burn strikes/NF or when specialist is active in the modifiers.

The RNG of the Icebreaker is fine by me. It took me 14 runs to get it but it's better than being able to just use 3oC and end up getting 10 Nemesis Stars' or 12 Celestial Nighthawks. I'd rather go back to Y1 and the difficulty that was RNG and GHorn...I didn't get GHorn til Xur sold it right before nerf and have played since Day 1...then be handed exotics like they're STDs from a hooker. Or if you need to be more family friendly, candy on Halloween. That being said, I can see Bungie making the RNG a little better ie...having more chances per week to get it. Link the Icebreaker to all of the Weekly Zavala bounties, so if you have 3 characters, you'd get 9 chances a week to acquire it instead of 3. If you remember in Y1, before CE, we had 3 chances at all exotics per week per character. Nightfall, exotic chest in VoG and Xur. Yes, I know Crucible could drop them too. I think I got 2 exotics ever after a crucible match prior to 3oC. Since one of those options were Xur, we only had 7 chances at whatever exotic you were wanting per week. And sometimes the NF liked giving out Ascendant Materials, that was the best!

With all the people trying to get icebreaker I haven't had to wait more than 3 min to get an invite on lfg. Stop being lazy.

I think it's good to have a few exotics locked behind rng, that way it's more rewarding than getting it through exotic engrams.
