It really all depends on the indie game. Yeah, there's probably mounds and mounds of garbage indie games (many of them to be published through steam greenlight), but there's also quite a few quality games that shine out and deserve attention (and our money). That and the games can cover every genre and style available to the industry, so judging indie games as a whole is kinda like throwing away a palette because it doesn't have a brand marking on it.

Have you tried astroneer or slime rancher

Edited by Garzon: 1/16/2017 5:00:48 AM"Indie" is a term that really just means a studio publishes its own original game. Half-Life 2 is an indie game. So is Rainbow Six Vegas So is Binary Domain

Holy shit. I can't believe I never thought of it that way... I feel like such a dumbass now 😂
-
The same Rainbow Six: Vegas that was published by Ubisoft? And is that the Minecraft that now has backing from both Sony and Microsoft?
-
Well, I'm not entirely sure how to consider subsidiary companies. I was going to include ESV: Skyrim because it was also created by a company that was founded by its own publisher specifically so they could publish that studio's games. As for Minecraft, the original game was released by the developers themselves, while the console ports were published by the respective console owners. I don't see why that would change the independent nature of the game's production.

Wow! I was mistaken with Vegas... I was almost certain the game was developed by an entirely different company. Minecraft could be a little trickier now that Microsoft essentially owns it, but it is by no means an indie game.

It's a really broad category though honestly. Indie games vary drastically in genre and budget.

Why don't you like them?

They just don't appeal to me. They aren't fun.
