2 RepliesI think it's mostly folk in bigger cities. Seriously. I spent a decade in a rural area 60 miles North of Los Angeles, and it was just as redneck as it comes. Guns, drinking, off roading, horses and shit. -blam!-ing Shania Twain. Now I live much closer to LA proper, and the entire vibe is different. It's all about money and cars and clothes. Maybe not all (and certainly not for me), but the priorities between the two areas is like night and day. And having been inside of both cultures for extended periods of time, I can see both sides of the equation. In the desert, life is slower. More chill. And inherently more dangerous, so I feel like people auto respect as a default. In the city, stress is often through the -blam!-ing roof. More gangs and hoodlums. More likelihood of confrontation. Cool thing is, they can keep hating, but they cannot come for our guns. Not without a striking the second amendment from the constitution. And it ain't gonna happen. Ps, liberals, you know, like Sen. Bernie Sanders, he didn't mention guns. Dude made the tired old hunting argument because he had to to appease the voters he was trying to court. But dude knows his constitution and didn't seem to be aiming to touch the subject. His opinion, which is close to my line of thinking, is that opportunity for all Americans is the key to reducing crime. More jobs with better pay for Skilled labor, rebuilding infrastructure, would help so many families that crime would be much less of a temptation.

46 RepliesSince I've been called a liberal like hundreds of times on this form I would just like to say [i]Guns are pretty cool and fun, I own several.[/i] I just don't understand the purpose or use for semi and full auto since I see guns in the public's hands as tools for hunting. I also think lots of people shouldn't own guns if they have mental disorders such a Bipolar disorder, anger issues, or antisocial personality disorder, mainly violent disorders, and people who have been arrested for violence with a gun or a weapon of some sort. People should also learn gun safety and to keep guns in places their children can't reach, or at least locked up. If they're going to display them at least keep them unloaded.

I technically have a gun from my grandfather, even went through the trouble of cleaning it. Shot it literally once and then never went back to the range. It just sits in my other grandfather's gun cabinet. I just don't get it about them, I respect people who like them and respect people who don't. I'd rather just work on my PC or play video games.

5 RepliesYou should try hunting upland game birds, it is incredibly fun and all upland game birds taste amazing. It's my favorite hobby. You could get a hunting shotgun like a Remington 870 for $400. And yes I know you don't feel safe owning a firearm but you could buy a cheap gun safe for $200-$300 and keep it locked up and unloaded. California has some decent bird hunting.
