Rasputin says the darkness "Inhabits its petitioners." That's a very odd phrase, but consider what it literally means. The Darkness inhabits the ones who oppose it.
You lost me when you interpreted "petitioners" as "the ones who oppose"

Edited by Fal Chavam: 1/15/2017 2:01:31 AMDefinition of a petitioner:
a person who presents a petition to an authority in respect of a particular cause.
You don't exactly "Petition" a cosmic being that wants to eat you alive, so a better way of wording it would be an enemy or something that does not agree with it. An Opposition to what it is. That is, unless, you plan to tell the darkness it's not allowed to destroy space fairing civilizations because you got 1,000 signatures on a piece of paper.

Petitioner is someone who seeks something from someone (or something, in this case). Opposition is not implicit in the definition of a petitioner, including the definition you presented (which is more closely related to the legal terminology rather than common usage). http://www.dictionary.com/browse/petitioner A petitioner wants something from whatever they are petitioning. In the context of the card, a petitioner is one seeking the darkness, not opposing it. This would be similar to prayer in a religious context: petitioners pray to Deity for favor. I apologize, I'm not trying to be critical of you or your ideas. I'm not fond of arguing, and that was not the intention of this post. I have studied rhetoric and logical argument for some years, and you legitimately lost me when you set the premise of your conclusions upon a misunderstanding. No hard feelings and no offense intended.

Fair enough. Though i should mention my argument was not based solely on that one quote.

*one of the premises on which you based your conclusions ; )

But in all honesty, I would sign that petition, regardless of the impact! Haha
