The destiny companion app has always been a lackluster piece of software. It has two main draws however. The first being grimoire, even though it would have been preferable to just read in game. The second is managing your clan. Now, it has come a long way I am happy to say. It still isn't great though. The most glaring flaw above all though? When somebody is trying to join your clan you have to tell them to use any other method of connecting to Bungie BESIDES the app that they most assuredly already have installed. This didn't happen a few weeks or even months ago. This has been a constant issue for years now. You can join the group ( I would like an option to turn off groups personally), but not the clan. And On a related note, when somebody does request to join your clan, the only way the app is of any help to you is if you have requests sent through notification messages as you have no way of actually doing this in app. I can't be the only one here who thinks this is a silly issue that should have been done away with long ago?
