Rasputin is not evil, and he is not of the Light or Darkness, even though he was built by those under the Light. Rasputin is an AI created during the Golden Age to protect Earth as well as make sure the other Warminds protected the rest of te system, and Rasputin has the ability to use any weapon or intel systems that were possessed by the other Warminds. Rasputin supervised the Ishtar Collective Vex experiments, the Exo project, and the SIVA project. Rasputin detected the Darkness coming before anyone else and prepared colony shuttles as well as weapons for its arrival. He also knew that if the Traveler left we would all die, so he prepared weapons for just in case, but the Mysteries and Alpha Lupi grimoires let us know that Rasputin never attacked the Traveler and the Traveler never tried to leave. Rasputin watched the Traveler be crippled by the Darkness before he himself was defeated, and learned from the battle. Rasputin determined that to defeat the Darkness he would hav to do so alone, so he no longer helps us in this war, but he does not kill humans unless necessary for his plans to succeed, and he has made it clear that he sees only the Darkness as an enemy and not the Light.
