I don't want a clean slate I want to keep the gear I've put countless hours into getting just so my gardians looks AWSOME. But with a wipe I lose everything? Why do people want to start over this nightmare?

I just wanted destiny two to be like a puzzle piece reason being I've spend 100+ dollars on destiny one and so if destiny 2 comes out no ones going to play d1 so I have a 100+ dollars worth of game and I won't get to play it because no one else will be playing so no crucible no strikes no raids nothing fun but story but story is only fun with other people
-
Its not we want it but it will happen regardless of what we want solely on the fact destiny 2 is a new game with new subclasses etc. So it wouldn't make sense have our characters with subclasses that will be pointless against new enemies who will be immune from our powers and weapons. Year 1 had a similar transition to year 2 against Oryx. Destiny is always changing. Change is good nothing remains the same change happens when we least expect it
-
1 ReplyI recall them saying they would work on destiny for 10 years, not destiny 1 for 3 years and then destiny 2 for X amount and so on.. Then again I'm still trying to get to that mountain over there.
-
Bc the game is broken
-
I don't get why anyone cares about preserving gear in a video game, or why anyone would consider that an investment in time. Most of us enjoy doing and getting new things in video games. If everything in the next version is new, then that's fantastic.

Edited by Brimstone: 1/13/2017 12:07:39 PMThis is progress. It needs to happen if Destiny 2 is gonna be any kind of fun.

You've just referred to the game as a "nightmare". Your own argument has been countered by yourself. It's time to wake up and move on.
-
Because players want a new experience. The most still you would carry over means the less new stuff you can have. People want new stuff.
-
3 RepliesI keep seeing the argument," did we move/transfer content when call of duty 2 came out? No!" Or whatever game they're talking about. But destiny was described as A game, as in singular, that will grow over the course of 10 years or so. Not be broken into multiple games that result in resets and just dropping all of our hard earned items gear and weapons after so much time and effort.

1 ReplyEdited by SmashvilleViking: 1/13/2017 5:34:21 AMI hope Bungie reads this. I really do. Then, maybe they'll just keep making dlc instead of new games. That way, by D3's timeframe (if there is one), noone will play anymore because we will still have all of the same stuff that we have now. People will also be complaining that they have to pay $60 for a dlc.
I love watching the forums burn
New game, new gear. I want Destiny 2 to actually feel like a properly polished game, not yet another extension of the beta.
-
I want a NEW GAME, not something that's gonna feel like a dlc. Get over it
-
Edited by ItzCharlie: 1/13/2017 7:14:45 AMI've put in thousands of hours in the game and can't hope enough that it's going to be a clean slate. Who cares that we've spent shitloads of hours grinding for gear. It'll be awesome to do it all again in the new title. Do you buy any sequel to a franchise and expect to already have a fully loaded character? Didn't think so....
-
While I like the idea of a clean slate, I kinda do like having my stuff as testiment to my time in Destiny as a Beta-Year 1 player. I wouldn't mind a clean slate though. It would be a fresh experience like Destiny was back in the day.
-
1 Reply"We want more diversity in destiny 2, but let us bring every weapon in destiny 1 over"

Edited by BKL ComicalRat0: 1/13/2017 5:33:48 AMBecause pieces of clean wood are awesome.

25 RepliesDid we keep anything from Diablo 2 when Diablo 3 arrived? Did we keep anything from Oblivion when Skyrim arrived? Did we keep anything from Metroid 2 when Super Metroid arrived? I cannot even think of a sequel that let you keep anything from the prequel. Destiny 2? Maybe Emblems and Grimoire, that's all.

I clean slate would be good but only under these conditions 1. Destiny would be a separate game and Destiny 2 would not be a DLC 2. There was a good reason story wise People want a clean slate I think because of nostalgia. OGs will remember that feeling of landing in the cosmodrone for the first time. Seeing all these places you could go and weapons to earn. This feeling was of course destroyed promptly after you realize that you do basically the same thing on each planet. But that feeling that you were on a quest was exhilarating. Just for that moment the world felt bigger than you. But once you reach max level it's just same old same old. The game starts to feel like a big routine; pick up your radiant treasure, go do daily and weekly crucibles, do some strikes, do challenge, do the raid and sit around in orbit asking yourself why you are here. So a clean slate would be good as long as I keep my loot in my vault in Destiny 1

I don't want to lose my character. Fine they wanna get rid of gear and stuff but let me keep my character appearance. I was promised a 10yr journey with my guardian and that's what I would like to do.
-
I can understand gear but I want to keep my character I started with. The one the vandalized three statues, started a gambling addiction, stole millions of glimmer, ended a monarchy with its followers and committed genocide to a whole culture. You know, all the good memories.

Edited by Maestro25: 1/12/2017 9:15:18 PMI want Bungie to import exotic gear, and only exotic gear. My reason is this. Destiny 1 will be completely dead when Destiny 2 is released. But if they tie exotic gear to the first game, then people would be compelled to go back and get the exotic gear they missed. For example, you could ONLY get MIDA or Ghally or Bones of Eao by playing Destiny 1 to tie it to your account. The game won't die in that case. It would still live on in newer players and people chasing exotics. It would be pretty cool if you kept your exotics throughout your Destiny career. That's the best way to tie the games together, going into Destiny 3 and beyond. There's also another big reason to think about. I don't want Bungie reusing content anymore than they already will. Think of all the exotic gear in the game. You know people will clamor for remakes. Bungie could easily import it bit by bit in place of creating new exotics. Screw that. I want them to make an equal or greater amount of brand new exotics for Destiny 2. Forget about remaking something old and presenting it as something new. My method kinda takes care of that problem.

Hey I don't mind starting my character at Zero but I want to keep all my stuff I put in way too many hours to just walk away from all that hard grind.
-
11 RepliesEdited by Darth Lunchbox: 1/12/2017 4:21:08 PMMost people don't. The ones that do are just the loudest, like the whiners. Keep just the characters, lose everything else, no armor, no weapons, no anything except the characters, that's MHO.
-
You want the same POS in a sequel? You do realize that they'll just use that as an excuse to give us less new shit, right? Not to mention that it only takes like 9 hours (less if you speedrun) to level from 0-40. Stop pretending that you've made this huge investment or that your character is somehow special. We all have what you have and we all pretty much look the same - seeing how few the character options are and how basically 2/3 are a total no-no.

5 RepliesEdited by Marteen23: 1/12/2017 7:08:58 PMI don't care if they take my gear but I don't want to play as a newly risen guardian. I want to continue the legend of the guardian that conquered siva, crota, the vault of glass and oryx.
-
Because it's a new game. It's not like it's going to be a DLC. I like the idea of starting fresh too. I always loved going through the story before in Vanilla Destiny.
