This guide will to tell you how to complete the chaperone quest the way that I completed it. I wrote this because I was having trouble with it, but I figured it out and finished it.
I did the shindig in the crucible part by going with my regular crucible loadout at the start of the game.
As the game goes on from the start, figure out whether or not the enemy team is easy enough to get TLW kills on. If you feel like you can take them on with TLW, switch to it. Do take caution, as you can lose progress while TLW is equipped. This also means you don't lose progress or gain progress with any other primary equipped.
Switch from your regular primary to TLW when:
-you're on the brink of getting a kill streak
-super is ready (in my opinion, striker is the easiest class to use to get quick super kills to start a 5 kill streak)
-your teams score is almost at max
-your team is about to win
TLDR: In the shindig in the crucible step of the quest, medals (double kills, kill streaks, etc.) give you the most progress
After the shindig in the crucible step, you will need to generously donate 15,000 glimmer to Tex Mechanica.
The fastest way to grind for glimmer is to run the archon's forge while using an ether seed and/or a ghost shell that gives you bonus glimmer with fallen kills. Archon'a forge is effective for the reason that you also get glimmer at the end of each Siva sample you play on.
after you have generously donated to Tex Mechanica you will need to get kills with a shotgun on high ranking enemies or guardians in the crucible
Getting kills with shotguns in the crucible is by far the easiest way to get it done, you get 3% each kill so get a universal remote and a shotgun of your choice and it should be done in 2 games.
after this step you will reach the second to last step of the quest. This step is to complete a special version of the shield brothers strike witch is available at the top right of the normal one on the director
What I did is I went into matchmaking and found nobody. for me, halfway through the strike people join in. Once each of the shield brothers are killed with a shotgun, everyone in the strike completes the quest step.
The final step is to wait until the weekly reset to get your chaperone from Amanda Holiday

1 ReplyCan you still get killd on private matches with TLW equipped or not. I have to the quest and hate the gun

Bump because this used to be a thread on me asking how to do it but now it's a guide

1 ReplyNOT WORTH IT ABORT

It Works in Private Match, Every 10 Kills is 1%, Every 100 Kills is 10% You'll need 1000 Kills, So put the Time/Score Limit to Max and Get Grinding.
Should be Done Under/Above 10 Matches
6 RepliesThis step in the quest actually works in private matches. Get 6 friends, if you have them, and go into a private match and kill all of them over and over again. I know doing it with just one other person in there we'll get you anywhere from 3 to 5% per match. I haven't tested it with more people.

This quest glitches constantly for me . I'll get to 78-84 percent and after the next game it resets to 2 percent even with a positive k/d and win... I said screw it not worth the hassle . I'm not the only one with this issue

2 RepliesYou get progress by getting kills with TLW equipped. If you don't have TLW equipped you won't lose progress when you die. You don't have to actually get kills using TLW it just has to be the gun in your primary slot. So what most people do is go into Crucible with their normal loadout and play like normal. During this time you won't be making or losing progress because TLW isn't equipped. Once you get your super up then hide in a corner and swap out your primary with TLW. Pop your super and get a bunch of kills. The second your super is used up run away and hide and unequip TLW. Play the match like normal repeating this process every time your super is up. When heavy spawns grab it then run off and hide. Hide for a minute or two to make sure everyone else burned thru their heavy or died. Equip TLW then switch to your heavy and go on a killing spree. I found using a machine gun will net you the most kills. Once your heavy is out find a corner to hide in and unequip TLW. You get 3% progress on the quest by having TLW equipped when you're on the winning team when the match ends. So in the last minute of the match if it looks like your team is going to win find a remote corner to hide in and equip TLW. When the match ends with your team winning you'll get 3% progress.

1 ReplyAn overly complicated quest for a mediocre shotgun. I'd invest my time in something else if I were you.

You only need the last word to be equipped. Super kills, grenade kills, melee kills all count. You also lose percentages for dying though. It's an annoying quest that isn't really worth the trouble in my opinion.
