I average a 1.25 k/d or better in all the crucible that I played in I average 13+ kills per game and yet on control my elo is a 900. I would put money on it I would smoke most of the 1500 elo players in a match. But these stupid people who post on LFG saying you gotta have this and you gotta have that for trials probably suck anyway who cares what your elo is it only matters what your game brings to the table
Edit #1 I do know what the ELO system was designed for. It was design for a game which actually takes skill and intelligence aka chess. All of you who think it is a useful system to determine a persons skill level in a random team PvP video game need to stop infecting the world with more stupidity than it already has. Bungee didn't apply the system to the game originally because even though I have some issues with the handling of this game they are intelligent enough to know it does not apply to a video game where you can have the potential to be teamed with below average players.

2 RepliesEdited by Fenrir_24: 1/5/2017 5:09:44 PMIt was originally designed for 1v1 games like chess. It's used in Destiny in a modified fashion, but of course it only reflects win/loss and therefore doesn't do well in displaying personal skill. It's frustrating, and elitists think it means something. The fact is it only means you've been on successful teams. For all they know, you could be the weak dingo and of little use. Or you could have been the one backpacking your teams to victory. There's no way to know by this score alone. Still this fact won't stop people demanding high ELO to team up. Understand their lunacy, and ignore them.

As an actual chess player with an actual Elo rating I agree the system needs to be changed if applied to Destiny stats. Elo works well when it's 1v1 where wins and losses and ties (which you see in Destiny as often as the Fate of all Fools) are all based off YOUR skill and actions. In Destiny I could go 30-3 and have a 10 KDr in a game and still lose Elo because I got Johnny No-Thumbs and his clan of scrubtaculars for teammates that round. Likewise I could go 1-14 and gain Elo because I got lucky enough to be carried by two people who were the best in the lobby. (This is a real instance btw as me and a guy got teamed with a guy who actually dropped a 1-14 in skirmish and gained Elo because we won the game)

3 RepliesEdited by rebelfist1: 1/3/2017 8:39:45 AMAgreed. My characters stats are completely screwed after sharing my account with my son only to see him get slaughtered in crucible...when I play...I R ap E face but it still doesn't prevent me from getting passed over for a trials run when you check my stats. On the flipside to be objective; In my case bad stats only help to mask my true skill when people make the mistake of underestimating me pre game load in...then I punish them.

You're stupid

5 RepliesI had 10 games of rift earlier today where i was top on my team almost every time, but we lost every single match on my warlock. I had well over a positive KD sometimes but the ELO system goes for wins over actual skill

2 RepliesYou're complaining about Control Elo? You do realise that it is entirely dependent on who you are matched with and matched against? You basically have no control over your Elo in such a playlist unless you have a constant fireteam. Don't compare Elo in other game modes the same way that you can compare Trials Elo. In fact I would say Elo should only matter in Trials amd Rumble because you have much more control over it. You pick your fireteam. You win or lose you games. Every win belongs to you, every loss is your fault, as a team. Thus you can control your Elo im Trials, maybe even Skirmish or Rumble. But Control?

1 ReplyIt's a system for lfg scrubs like you. Pretty much a win percentage in numbers
-
3 RepliesThe Destiny Tracker site in general is a bunch of garbage. They base their stats for guardians almost purely off of wins and nothing else. That means that you can suck at the game and get carried in any game mode and have a higher DTR, Elo, and True Skill than an actual good player. Continuing off of that, KD in general is a good idea in theory, but it completely goes against "having fun" for most people. To have a good KD you have to go with the meta, like it or not, you can't use random weapons just for the hell of it, and you can't just mess around in Crucible. For the most part, unless you're just a legend at the game who can use trash guns and still be positive.

1 ReplyBungie doesn't even use Elo.
-
3 RepliesIf I gave 2 craps about k/d in year 1 and didn't play like an idiot I would have better stats. Now I have hundreds of deaths to catch up on.
-
Your KD is more important. Any player that plays with a solid fireteam, winning most their games will have a good ELO.

Elo is a great system with poor execution due to abuse. As it stands now, the elite players only use Trials Elo as a means to determine skill. The problem here is Trials Elo is the least accurate because it is the most farmable; simply get a good team and play the first couple of wins before getting a clean card. Other than issues like this, the Elo system does its job well.
-
6 Replies1v1 bitch lol
-
6 RepliesElo is insanely farmable. There's plenty of large egos out there who brag an Elo that was farmed using account recov and finding the lowest Elo carry you can manage
-
1 ReplyELO is based on wins more so than anything else...
-
3 RepliesELO is a system that's been used for generations in games as early as chess and is by far the best ranking system for most games. If your ELO in control is 900, you lose a lot.
-
Stop whining and design a better system.

2 RepliesEdited by Carbonite Flux: 1/4/2017 4:54:38 PMIf you don't have 2,000 or more elo I'm not going to play trials with you
jk
13 RepliesIt looks like a lot of people here hate the ELO system, when in fact your all below average. I don't blame you, its hard to like something your terrible at
-
3 RepliesElo is based on beating people. You have to WIN to get more elo. We all start at 1200… if you stay consistently below that, your terrible. If you consistently stay above that, you can assume your good, or at least above average.
-
11 RepliesElo was originally a system designed for professional chess, so I think it's anything but stupid
-
Trials Elo is the only game type were Elo matters, having a decent Elo helps finding a team. Players with decent Elos are players that know how to play the game type, make the right decisions and know how to win.
-
I have no idea what that is or where to look, then again, I'm not losing sleep over it.

Reported for fl*pping griefing you smurf account. U ruin the gane for people trying to get to gold nova
oops wrong game
3 RepliesElo is a form of discrimination. Needs to be removed entirely.
