So I was just thinking about Destiny 2 and I realised something: how can Bungie give us a good story while censoring themselves to keep a "T" rating?
Imagine if the Bethesda had gone for a T-rating while making Skyrim or Dishonoured. In a world as dark as Destiny's the game needs to have an "M" rating.
In a post apocalyptic scenario we aren't going to see everyone getting along and holding hands, we're going to see the worst in human nature, and the worst in ourselves.
Simply put the story would need to be fairly adult in nature with our guardians being a blank moral slate. If we act evil our guardian should become evil and and act evil.
If we wan't Destiny 2 to be better then Destiny 1 we need to give Bungie helpful and constructive feedback. So let's take a quick poll to see what the the community thinks.
Thanks for reading!
I'll try to respond to every comment.
EDIT: The "M" rating on it's own wouldn't change anything, what it would do is give bungie the tools to tell a better story.

EDIT 2: When I said more adult I meant making big characters die on screen and showing off a little bit of life outside the last city. Not turning Destiny into an "Adult" game, we already have enough of that in the real world.
The internet is a strange place...
Another quick edit: So what events in the Grimore cards do you think might be a bit too adult for a "T" rating and what events would you like to see in game. Everything goes.
This is a open discussion about the content of the Grimore, speculation regarding Destiny 2, and a general discussion about what we would like to see in game.
IE: A plate of cookies in the tower, or a new feature such as more in-depth interactions with NPC's .
MANDATORY EDIT: We're trending! Thanks!

5 RepliesIf they just go M, we have a much darker tone to start with. Enemies would actually bleed instead of leaking Ether and Circuits, probably Gore from Rockets, more realistic and gritty looking setting "Less Magicy, More Wastelandy", probably have more "Zombie-Like" Hive, as in they infect Humans, and hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Deaths became more graphic. Enemy design too. If it stays T, nothing really will change.

1 ReplyAn M rating wouldn't make the game better Blood, gore and foul language does not mean good content, honestly it's the lazy way out
-
10 RepliesMature content is not necessary for compelling stories. See Pixar movies for proof.
-
Make it bloody, like halo
-
2 RepliesBungie: players want M rating Bungie to Bungie: make it E
-
1 ReplyAs long as people are not naked I will play
-
6 RepliesJust give a campaign as good as Titanfall 2, and I will buy them all
-
4 RepliesWhat "mature" elements are missing from the story that would improve the game? Will more gore make it better? Will more F bombs improve the story? What about seeing a naked girl with polygon tits?
-
1 ReplyBungie can't do that. They would lose tons of their fan base. Many teens, including myself, play and have fun with this game. If bungie goes all out on blood and gore, parents won't their kids play the next destiny. They've sucked us in to destiny, so they better have a T rating if they want us to all buy destiny's sequel. Plus, a M rating wouldn't automatically fix destiny 1's problems and make the sequel perfect.

Edited by Ranch: 1/8/2017 4:12:39 AMBungie: ok players want M rate for destiny 2 Bungie to bungie: just add a couple more curse words

1 ReplyThe Darkness rises to destroy us all....and we have a T rating?? Doesn't feel as solid of a story if they have to dumb it down.
-
3 RepliesSo the story of how the people of the Reef were betrayed and slaughtered by the Fallen isn't a dark story? How about the King who Destroyed an entire Reef fleet that opposed him, killing the Queen of the Reef and then went on the force armies to fight for him all for the sake of avenging his son that we killed? How about the Man who lead over 100 Soldiers into a losing battle and could only watch as his friends died? I wouldn't exactly call those stories happy.

1 ReplyWe can't even have in game gambling because of the T rating
-
1 ReplyI want to hear what cayde REALLY wants to say...
-
1 ReplyIt just means more kids playing as crutch hunters who will cry for more nerfs Just sit back and enjoy their cries!
-
5 RepliesBungie does not determine what the game is rated. The ESRB does. Bungie makes the game and THEN the ESRB gives it's rating . Simply put...... Bungie limited themselves.
-
2 RepliesI can only imagine the type of content we'd have/see if this game was an M rating....It would be glorious(and probably gory to)
-
1 ReplyEdited by KitsuneSonow: 1/5/2017 6:26:45 AMEh, seen plenty of well told stories in games that have "E" or "T" ratings. The story in Destiny (speaking relatively) is solid, the problem is it's not actually in the game but in the cards which is possibly the dumbest thing about Destiny. Only thing worse is you have people that want more Destiny story put in books and have people charged for it like Halo.... Also, in the recent trend of "M" rated games, that would mean even more children playing it than normal and I would rather not have more bossy brats calling me the N-word or cuck for not playing how they wanted me to.

1 ReplyLike you said earlier, we have enough blood in the real world for our fill. I can name plenty of big screen movies that flopped in the box office because times have changed and people don't want to see that kind of stuff anymore. Gaming is no different. Bungie knows this. Also the main storyline for D2 is already complete so unless you want it to look as cobbled up as D1, don't expect a change in rating.
-
10 RepliesThey could finally add blood if it was M. And language, which means a good story. Plus they could make shit look scarier. It would just be better...
-
1 ReplyDestiny DOOM addition where the darkness will rip off your arms and chit on your scrubby face. Yes please
-
1 ReplyM for sure. I want to see blood and bones.
-
1 ReplyI would love Destiny 2 to be M (Or in my Country MA) The only thing I don't agree with in this post is how you said Bungie won't be able to deliver a good Story with a T Rating. There are many games with amazing stories that have the T Rating.
-
4 RepliesImportant post, but this shouldn't be in the lore section. LORE (mostly) belongs here.
-
1 ReplyDestiny said they werent going to go down that road in the kf raid along
-
1 ReplyDefinitely M. Does anyone remember how gruesome Halo was way back in the day? I would love Destiny to be like that.
