Technically I don't think using Memory of Felwinter in the Nexus is a bug per se - the artifact disables your Super on purpose, so it would stand to reason it shouldn't be used by people who do relic duty. I suspect that, for those who haven't finished the "no Time to Explain" quest, it does the same in Vault of Glass against the Templar.

  • Disabling you Guardian's super shouldn't also extend to disabling a relic. The super energy generated by relics also does not carry over to your Guardian, so Felwinter's artifact shouldn't affect it anyways. I imagine the same thing happens when carrying a Hive sword during the Abomination Heist strike or Sword of Crota mission. The sword relic super isn't as crucial to use as the Aegis super is, though, since all it does is deal extra dmg.

The relic charges up your Super energy and requires it to fire; that's why you can only use it when charged, as it is basically a Super cannon. I can't speak to the Abomination Heist sword, but it may do it during the Court of Oryx's "Thalnok" challenge, or the boss fight with Crota. It makes sense the studio simply didn't bother to write an "if, then, else" statement in the code to allow Supers to work when using MoF in Strikes/Raids, because Nexus shows up intermittently in the playlist and very few people do the Year 1 raids anymore.

  • I agree it was definitely an oversight that they missed adding that bit of code, as they even confirm that it is a bug themselves. A relic, however it is powered, should not and cannot be affected by anything equipped to our Guardians since it is a very special object which transcends and supersedes their abilities. All Guardians use the relics in the same exact way, only difference being their jumping abilities (plus grenades w/ Hive Sword). It would make sense that no matter what we equip on our Guardians, the relics always behave the same. That being said, it would be awesome if there was some relic whose abilities changed according to class/subclass or element...
