It was upon thy realization that doom had set in. The discovery Zito's team had just made was incomprehensible. How could this be possible? How could we have missed this? We had been fighting the Vex since the Golden Age, but we had forgotten how deep the rooted timeline of their history echoes across the void. The reality of their attempt to eradicate us all. All of us stood in silence inside the Vanguard Council halls, staring at the screen displaying the images from the recon team. Zavala, Cayde, and Ikora were frozen, same as the rest of the Guardians crowding near them, watching in shock. The sandstorm that had made it's way through Mars didn't just progress the Dunes surrounding our camps, but had unearthed something... horrid. "My god..." were the words muttered through the Ghost's feed of the Recon Team as Zito slowly moved his fireteam towards the enormous metallic giant that lay asunder beneath the sand.
