What to do after level 40 boost?

So I bought myself "Destiny: The collection" for PS4 and used the instant level 40 boost. My item level is 318 and I've done some of the Rise of Iron story questline and pvp - although I'm always the worst in the group but still manage to get a few kills. I don't feel like I am doing the best things to increase my characters light level and get good gear, does anyone have any tips they can give me to help with this?

  • Finish the RoI story, then Siva strike playlist to 365 and heroic to 385. Be sure to equip any gear that drops that is an upgrade in light. Drops are based on your overall light so it's important to keep that as high as possible to continue getting improved drops. Don't worry about perks until later. There is too much change to keep up with the materials required for gear with good perks when you are raising light that quickly. You can save legendary armour with perks you like and infuse them up when you reach 380+. If you have enough legendary marks, the first thing you should buy is a 350 ghost. Once you finish the RoI story, Tyra will give you a quest for a 350 artifact. Save any exotic engrams until you are nearing 385 at least. Also save a stack of 5 skeleton keys in your vault and 4 on your character until the same point. You can use the 5th ones on your character's stack. These are good sources for max light gear outside of the hard raid, trials or events. If your artifact is lagging behind your other gear, you can use a key on the valus or winter's end strikes. Either of these has a very good drop rate for a blue artifact.

    • Sparrow racing til the Dawning is over. Easiest possible way to get drops, each race is 5 minutes, you don't even have to win. Plus, you'll build up Crucible and Faction rep, so you can get drops from ranking up those at the same time.

In case the post below me made you dose off, here's a simple chart showing what gear drops at a certain light level. https://imgur.com/fBe4zJl Also, if you're on ps4, I can help you out with anything if I'm available.

    • Honestly, just buy everything for 350. Then go from there. Strikes at 320 will level you up quickly to 365. While you do strikes, put on a vanguard booster and 30c every time. Rewards from faction and reps will go up to 390. Heroic strikes go up to 385. Once 385, it's all exotic engrams, hard mode raid, trials, and crucible rewards, and arching forge. The best way to level from 385 to 400 is if there are any events going on, like ir9n banner or srl. These will give you basically everything you need. If there is no event, pick your poison. But arching forge will drop ghosts and artifacts up to 400. So will skeleton keys. But for all the normal armor and weapons you want to do hard raid, trials, crucible or Skelton keys and exotic drops. If any of this was confusing let me know and I'll explain more.
