I was wondering why does everyone hate MLG? All MLG does is take out all the GEY unskillful weapons like ARs,Swords,Hammers, and shotguns and put all the guns that take skill like BRs (now DMRs and Needle Rifles) and make fun gametypes like CTF on The Pit and is so Fun! You guys should at least try it. Is anyone on my side?

The other reason is that many who call themselves as much generally act like everyone who does not conform to their playstyle are worthless and treat them like their opinions do not matter. Truth be told, MLG (actual MLG) is poorly represented on these boards, there are only a few decent MLG guys here from what i've seen and that doesn't help the overall image.
Posted by: walshy rules and most other MLG fanatics ...All MLG does is take out all the GEY unskillful weapons like ARs,Swords,Hammers, and shotguns..
This is why mainly.

You guys should at least try it. Is anyone on my side?
In my opinion I think it is stupid to take out any weapons/perks etc. in a game to make it take more "skill" those weapons/perks/vehicles etc. are there for a reason, to make the game fun and balanced, gametypes are usually fully balanced as well so there is little to no problem there. The shotgun/sword/hammer etc. are just cheap and easy kills, IF you know how to use them you can get multi kills easily without having trouble instead of just running into a group of people shooting wildly and getting 1 or 2 kills of course there ares till those moments when there are 3 or 4 guys sitting together not paying attention when a big guy with a hammer ruins their day for them with one swing, but either way all weapons take a decent amount of skill to use efficiently. In short I do not think taking anything out of the game makes it "better" or take more "skill" it is just taking tools away from the gamers, also from personal experience MLG is full of jerks... There are nice people yes but most encounters I have had are just jerks an ego maniacs.

Okay, I love MLG, but I must admit, the OP didn't describe MLG properly. Don't listen to him, he's one of the guys that you people would call wannabe-pros.
-
i hate it becuase of all the annoyingg people who scream into the mic and have sex with it while screaming for u to do as they say or they will file complaints against ur account. Then i think that they may make jsut alittle to much moneyz for only playing one tournement a year and they make more than people who work 12 hours 280 days of the year. maybe if they got paid less but played more tournements to see who is really good it would be better. I got nothing personally against them though( i mean the cool ones that makez the $$$, the querrs that -blam!- the mic are annoying as hell though.)

You're just as bad as them, OP. Bungie's Halo forums are populated by 3 different types of people. 1, The casual. "I play for fun" "MLG is stupid and not a sport" "MLG players suck with all weapons except the BR" 2, The MLG elitist prick. "lol colonel bk" "If you don't have a 50 your opinion doesn't matter" 3, The decent people. These are either MLG fans or casuals, or something inbetween. I am personally something inbetween. I am pretty casual but I think MLG gametypes are fun and I think Grifball is stupid. These people make proper threads with good arguments for their opinion and they also reply with good arguments. Unfortunately, these seem to be a small minority, as the majority of responses will be "this is halo not cod" "lol bk" "mlg is dumb". This forum is the same as the H3 forum, with the BR threads, MLG threads, AR threads and constant arguing, with no one even reading what the other person has to say, they just flame eachother. Half of them are probably trolls, but you can't tell because the ones that aren't act just as stupid. Oh and my favorite reply, that's even more pathetic than "this is halo not cod" is "go back to h3". Basically ANY suggestion that is similiar to something that was in H3 gets this response.

Oh look, it's this thread again. Let's see. "MLG sucks the fun out of Halo by removing weapons, maps and gametypes to suit their wants and needs!" So, Grifball sucks? We don't want to remove any weapons, but if the weapons are as unbalanced or unpurposeful as the Halo 3 weapons are/were, we need to remove them because they ruin the way we like to play. "MLG players take the game too seriously and trash talk at me! THEY RUIN MATCHMAKING!" Stereotyping? I have NEVER trash talked, I treat my opponents and teammates with the utmost respect and I always say good game in the after game lobby. We don't take the game too seriously, the sterotype 12 year olds do. If you want to label MLG like that after interacting with some people who "claim" to be "MLG", I would have to say that all americans are religious fanatics or rednecks. So, if you use some of that sense of yours, and try to ignore the pests that we're all bothered by instead of bashing MLG for something it's not responsible for. The stereotype you are referring to is a problem for the MLG community too, we dislike them just as much, if not more than you. "All MLG players think they are 'pro'" My highest Halo 3 ranking is a 43, I consider myself an MLG player. Why? Because I like the style of play, and I like knowing that when I lost, I lost to someone who is better than me, and not because of some random factor I could do nothing about. "Gaming was made for fun" So was every sport you can make a career in. "Pros are only good at MLG settings" You, and I, would be destroyed by a pro in virtually any setting that requires more than button bashing skills (Swords) "MLG isn't fun" Your view of fun isn't the same as mine. I like MLG settings, but do you see me bashing your settings or telling you that you are some tryhard who needs to get out more? Bottom line is, the Bnet forum has, because of the stereotype MLG "kids", started hating us for something we can't control. These kids will always label themselves as something they think is superior, and this time they chose MLG. If MLG didn't exist, they would label themselves as something else, but they would still be the same old -blam!-s. Also: @Murdur How would you know the MLG community is bad? We have the same morons as Bnet does, but the good posters and the longtime members are what makes a forum, not the 1 post per week people. If you think the MLG community is bad, I urge you to get under it's skin and interact the more mature members. [Edited on 05.26.2010 3:28 PM PDT]
Posted by: l337 h4xor Those that cannot do hate those that can.
And this is why everyone hate MLG. Cuz MLG wannabes think they are so good at halo when they are only good at part of it. People like this give MLG a bad rep.
Posted by: Phattee Buttz Cuz this is a pastime for the vast majority of people. Those who take it way too seriously make things less fun for everyone else.
Why do some of us hate MLG? Well, personally I find them to be too competitive. It's fine if you want to have your own playlist. But those players aren't the "best of the best," only the best at what they do. They should - in no way - govern the rest of the Halo Multiplyer experience like some want. You've turned Candy Land into a competitive sport. You're all "We gotta go save the King! RAAAH!" when some of us just want to stare at Queen Frostine. F**k the king.

Stop being ignorant.
Well there aren't competitions for them, but they are games that pin you against other players and you must try and beat them. No different than Halo. Some obviously are different than others, but they can be "competitive" if you make them.
What about world peace? Yeah, got you on that one.

Halo has always been a chaotic and fun shooter game and I just don't like MLG because it takes away the chaotic gritty battles and replaces it with short small skirmishes. I like seeing bodies flying and shrap metal scattered around burning piles that once was a deadly vehicle. I like going into a battle that has twists and turns and something new in each match. I like having odds stacked up against me and over coming those odds with pure unrelenting will and knowledge of how the game plays. Answer me this what is more satisfying as a player out BRing a guy or taking on a whole team of players and getting the upperhand and wining an uneven battle? Id pick the more rewarding battle that involves more thinking and more variety added to any given situation. Knowing how to take out enemy vehicles like a tank when you have no power weapons and your team is relying on you to do it yourself to me seems more skillful than the guy who got a lucky no scope or was able to team shoot some guy. I see skill as knowledge of a variety of things in a game and knowing how to deal with all of them. MLG does not satisfy me in the respect.
-
I love MLG's gametypes. I just don't like the mentality that I'm the best and anyone who can't beat me sucks. Anyone who can't get a 50 is a scrub, and if you don't use the BR you're a noob. I can do without that attitude; we all can actually. When I'm interested in becoming a better player, I like my fights to be balanced, like a professional basketball or soccer match. When I want crazy fun, however, I don't mind things like Armor Abilities. I just don't like overly nooby or casual gameplay. I don't want BTB to be nooby with Splasers all over the place like it was in Halo 3.

no reason why i hate MLG- they take everything fun about the game and just remove it and give you a -blam!- weapon (yeah im talking to you BR) now i dont suck at the BR but it just gets boring if you are stuck with only 1 weapon. i can suggest people who like to be skillful to play MLG but i cant suggest a person who wants to hang out and have fun with friends instead of being intense and too into it
-
I like it just I hate the people that take it to seriously.
Posted by: EPANDEMIC Because MLG took Halo, stripped it down to the weapons levels and gametypes they deemed "fair" and then told everyone this is how "pros" play. If they were really "pros" they'd play the damn game the way it's shipped and still kick ass. Instead they complain about every minute variable that contributes to their failure. I realize the ones that complain are MLG wanna-be's but MLG started this whole movement of overly-competititve crybabies that has ruined matchmaking.
Haha you are so full of fail. When MLG turned up the damage so the BR would be a consistent 4-shot, they had to remove the weapons that became overpowered with higher damage like the AR. Ever used an AR on lan? Its actually a powerful weapon, with increased damage, its a beast. Go test it out for yourself. Its the same idea with the other weapons MLG didn't include. They became to powerful in relation to their ease of use. If they had the tools to tweak the weapons individually they would have used a lot more of the sandbox. Also, an MLG 50 can get a fifty in any playlist.

I don't hate MLG. I hate people that exaggerate MLG as being better than the normal game and thinking that games are all about being skilled, not having fun. There's nothing wrong with liking to have a competition every game, but there's also nothing wrong with liking to have a great time every game, regardless of skillful weapons and such. Basically, MLG gets a lot of hate because many MLG players, or people who claim to be MLG, are run into and tend to think that they're better than everyone else because they know how to play the game "correctly". Then people who play the game for fun tend to believe that every single skillful player is a conceited jerk who doesn't know how to have fun. It's all stereotypes. People just need to realize not everyone shares their opinion and that everyone has their own play style.
-
Because everyone on this forum has a biased and moronic view of MLG. I have tried MLG before. It was actually pretty enjoyable.
-
People dislike MLG for the gametype and the community. Combine the two it becomes hate. MLG settings = Dislike MLG Crappy community = Despise MLG
