You get one shot per week per character. It is a possible drop when turning in the "Sunrise" weekly elite bounty from Zavala which is to get gold on nightfall within 30 minutes. The strike scoring and bounties are permanently in the game now so no worries about the dawning ending. The only things that are unclear as to whether or not they will be available is the void and solar thunderlords. They require reaching rank 7 in the new record book to get the quest. I doubt they would keep them event specific but it's unclear how they would be gotten after the event ends as you need at least some SRL and need to get the quest from Xur's present box.

Elite bounty for nightfall doing the nightfall within the time limit of 30 min.

You get it from completing and turning in the Nightfall Vanguard Elite bounty you get from Zavala. You can get it after The Dawning.
