I have been a Voidwalker 'main' (I hate using that word) and fell in love with Destiny's PvE. PvP was never really my jam. Allow me to explain the way I have run Voidwalker since Launch (this is a new account), my loadout you could say.
LOADOUT
Subclass
Obviously Voidwalker running max agility, near max recovery and very low armor (you'll see why) and:
Grenade: Scatter Grenades
Jump: Focused Burst
Super: Lance
Melee: Life Steal
Other perks: the Vampire Build (this includes following perks: 'The Hunger' and 'Embrace the Void')
Weapons
Primary: Bad Juju (Exotic Pulse Rifle)
Special: 77 Wizard or any other high-damage legendary Fusion Rifle
Heavy: Unending Deluge III (Legendary Heavy Machine Gun) or a Rocket Launcher
Gear
Exotic: Nothing Manacles
Build: 3-5-3 (Tier 11)
EXPLANATION
The most important skill you'll need with this loadout is combat awareness. So, the way this build works goes like this. When you enter a room, the first thing you do is start rating the spawned enemies. The more you'll do this, the faster you'll be able to start the real fight. I can do this in less than a second now. There are 5 ratings (Tier 1-3, Tier Major and Tier Ultra). I'll use the various enemy factions (except for Taken and Splicers, since they are reskins) to showcase each Tier. Then I'll explain how to treat every single tier.
Tier 1:
Description: These enemies don't do a lot of damage, and don't have much hitpoints (HP) either. They are only dangerous in large groups.
Examples: Dregs, Thrall, Goblins, Legionaries
Treatment: Grenades, Bad Juju
Tier 2:
Description: These enemies have the possibility to do a big chunk of damage, and have a slight health increase. A couple of these can melt a Guardian...
Examples: Vandals, (Acolytes), Cursed Thrall, Hobgoblins, Harpies, Phalanxes, Psions
Treatment: Grenades, Bad Juju, Fusion Rifle
Tier 3:
Description: Enemies with big health pools, capable of dealing a lot of damage. They usually deploy energy shields.
Examples: Captains, (Servitors), Knights, Wizards, (Shriekers), Ogres, Minotaurs, Hydras, Centurions, Colossi
Treatment: (Grenades), Fusion Rifle, Heavy, (Super)
Tier Major:
Description: The enemies with yellow health bars, usually 'evolutions' of Tier 3 enemies, that will deal even more damage.
Examples: All Majors (yellow-bar enemies)
Treatment: Fusion Rifle, Heavy, Super
Tier Ultra:
Description: The bosses from Destiny, capable of OHK (one-hit-kill) attacks. They have insane HP and do a ridiculous amount of damage.
Examples: All Ultra's (yellow-bar enemies with a Skull instead of a level icon)
Treatment: Fusion Rifle, Heavy, Super
Exceptions on this rule are Servitors and Shriekers. Whilst not being a direct threat, it is advised to take them out as soon as possible.
Well, now we've got that out if the way, time to explain the role of the Voidwalker in a Fireteam. His role is to kill. Kill everything. How, you might ask? Well, you can achieve this by constantly staying in the battle, by non-stop regenerating health, ammo and abilities. That is the whole purpose of this build.
To support the Fireteam, you need to kill every single enemy, ranked by the Tier system and the situation you or your teammates are in. So you need to first target the enemies directly attacking you, then the one attacking your Fireteam, then the rest whilst constantly killing things, and if you have nothing to do, focusing on the objective (like shooting the boss).
If you die, you're a bad Voidwalker, because you'll not be active in battle. You need to be killing enemies all the time, whether it be with your abilities or your weapons. And, in the meanwhile, try not to kill yourself with those grenades. You're not a tank, nor a damage dealer or a support. You are a killing machine, constantly on the move.
For some credibility, I usually am placed first on Fireteam kills.
The Vampire build is amazing. I mained Hunter then wanted to switch to Sunbreaker for the fun and movement speed with Twilight Garrison but once I found Voidwaker i immediately feel in love. The constant nade spam you can do with Tier 5 Discipline and Nothing Manticles makes that heal you and recharge the grenade while you kill us amazing. You literally turn into SunSinger super. Also being able to melee or super to start the grenade recharge rate is awesome. If Catapult is on it is OP on any Burn for weekly strikes. Great PVE build. For PVP the 2 scatter grenades are not ideal anymore since the Nerf so axiom bolt is the go-to with Void-Fang vestments or the new O. Aspects for quicker weapon handling.

1 ReplyEdited by Porcratus: 12/18/2016 11:32:24 PMI prefer running Ram and Touch of Malice. I want to see if it'll get through WotM. But yes the Vamp Voidwalker is awesome.

1 ReplyWhen I play Void, I do the same except I tend to use Red Death instead of Juju.

7 RepliesMy warlock definitely looks like Vampire Goddess now with Dawning armor. Love it so much

3 RepliesBump for the grape flavored space vampires!

5 RepliesGreat post, and while you're out there killing stuff I will watch over you and come get your rez if you go down. Bladedancers are the medics of Destiny. A very offensive medic, but a medic nonetheless. You may not love me in PvE since I don't have the abilities you do, but I love you and will come get you again and again.

10 RepliesI love my Voidwalker. I run the same setup, except I run 3/4/4 (Tier 11), and here's why: Bad Juju and Energy Drain do more than enough work for the Super, and Energy Drain on the scatter grenades is amazing. I like having 4 Str, though, because having life steal in a pinch if I'm off with a grenade through is a godsend, as it too will neatly auto-ready the grenade charge. Orherwise, yeah, pretty much the same build, and it's badass!

3 RepliesThe whole tier thing isn't relevant with the subclass load out??
