Could a flood form infect a Dead Space necromorph or opposite?

Since they both are a parasite they could become something horrid combined lol.

  • It depends who penetrates who?? Nah but can they infect echother at all? I know flood has mass requirement but can the power of the necromorph infect other things or new things? Or is it species specific. (Idk where bat necro comes from) if a flood infects a necro then would it be cobtrolled anyways? A gravemind steals knowledge from anyone that is infected. What could it learn? If i had to choose a side i guess id choose flood because they can be reanimated as long as the body is not broken apart. They can also fly ships and shoot guns once the gravemind absorbs the right knowledge and shares it with everyone.

      • No, but I think it could work the other way around. My understanding of the necromorph infection is that it operates on an individual cellular level. The host must be totally dead and does not need any specific shape or genetic makeup, while the Flood must have an intact nervous system and sufficient muscle mass which the infection form will abandon in the event that it sustains too much damage. Though I remember there are also Flood "pure forms" which are born without hosts like the infection forms themselves. For example, Flood infection forms are incapable of repurposing smaller creatures like grunts and jackals, while the necromorph infection will take anything from infants to long-dead corpses, and there are a handful of necromorph forms that can continue fighting even after they are blasted apart. In fact, the reason necromorphs must be destroyed in the specific manner of dismemberment is because they have no vitals of any kind, and removing pieces of them is the only way to prevent the tissue rearrangement process that keeps them ambulatory. I'm not sure how the process of a necromorph infecting a Flood form would actually happen, because with living humans it usually involves puncturing the brain which I doubt would work in this instance. Now the real question is what would happen to the collective intelligence that each infection produces? Would the Hive Mind subvert the Gravemind simply by counter-infecting all of its minions? How would the Marker artifact function in this scenario? My theory is that they would gradually begin to meld together into a super-intelligent combined consciousness, which, if still amplified by the power of the Marker, would reach a near-deitic influence.

      • Flood could infect the necromorphs, as long as living versions have a nervous system, or if they're dead (flood infect nervous system of living hosts, and force them to suicide (normally, but not always. Not the case in halo ce) then reanimate the body). Plus the floods innards are mostly fluid, only tissue in there is the infection form. So I don't think necromorphs can infect the flood.

      • I think...? I mean, the Flood can infect living things as well as reanimate dead things through some weird process involving stabbing a spine(Chief's first encounter) and taking over the nervous system or something. While the Necromorphs utilize some form of liquid(Infector Needle juices?) and a signal from a Hive Mind/Marker or a Brethren Moon. So I think a Flood Infection form can infect active Necromorphs that have adequate mass for the Flood to embed itself in. However, the Necromorphs cannot infect a Combat/Pure Forms if the Infection Form inside it is alive and active. So, technically yes I think. My facts might be a lil outdated though.
