They need to get rid of melee lunge.

I'm not going to try and make a long post here but I feel that melee lunge brings to many un-fair kills and is generally stupid. It would also help get rid of melee+sprint rushers. If not completely get rid of the lunge, lessen the distance by A LOT. Sword lunge would obviously stay but no regular melee.

  • I wouldn't mind if it had an auto-lock type feature for when you melee. [as in if you punch, you center onto their chest with the camera but don't actually move anywhere] I think that would work pretty well.

Halo:CE just had a terrible melee system!

  • Melee lunge is essential if you want a game that at least includes beat downs. I kind of like the lunge in Reach- you only take a step forward to melee, and that is if only the person is really, really close to you.

I'd like it if the lung was about 50% weaker, that way there's a slighly larger close quarter skill gap, but people can still usually land melees.

Lunge has just made it a fail-safe and takes kills stolen away from someone who should rightfully have it.[/quote] Halo 1 made even less sense. Instead of lunges, they had magical melees which would hit and kill people that you were nowhere near.

  • All they really need to remove is the weird glitch where you could double melee even though the other person meleed too early and the animation finished before the attacker meleed for the second time.

I remember I was going to melee someone who just started to use the jet-pack and he was a good... 5-7ft away I'd say and I lunge ALL the way up to him and assassinated him, that's just stupid. I'm gonna guess here and say the lunge is 4ft regularly? I think it should be shortened to around 3/4ft a-foot or at least a foot.

  • Melee lunge is unfair and stupid? How? And Melee+Sprinters are very likely going to be nerfed given how they are adding more delay before you can melee again into the final game. What I would say needs to be fixed, and by fixed I mean broken and the peices reshaped into a pale, grotesque visage of it's former self, is Shotgun/Sword/Hammer Sprinters.

  • I agree. The Lunge should be a hammer and sword only thing. It's the whole point of the hammer and sword to be superior melee weapons. It also takes more skill to truly hit someone with your gun, like in Halo 1. Random: The melee lunge in Halo 2 was terrible. More often than not, you'd fly past your victim, fall to your death, or unexplainably go flying 80 feet in the air, after your lunge FAILED. I rarely melee in Halo 2, and NEVER if the enemy is nearby a ledge.
