Destiny: The exclusion zone

Edit: "Before you start reading, know I completed all of the content on a different accout. I've already had someone contribute nothing to the conversation in an attempt to invalidate my argument based on my stats." Seriously, I've come back to this game in the hope that I can still access the daily missions and PvP modes regardless of the fact that I haven't spent more money on what was an unfinished game. I didn't buy Rise of Iron, and now I feel like I am being punished for playing Bungie's game all the way to the end of The Taken King. Why don't they provide alternatives for those without the map packs, or do what most other games do in these situations and offer the option to turn DLC off? Destiny is an amazing game, yet they seem to want to exclude as many people as possible from a large portion of the content originally available to them. It's just a huge kick in the teeth. They have an amazing community, yet they don't seem to want to support it as well as they possibly could do.
