Today the development team is making a few changes to Matchmaking settings with the goal of improving your experiences in the Crucible. Here is a quote straight from the team with some details about what is being changed.
We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general.
As always, our work in designing a Crucible experience that serves all players is never finished. Be sure to let us know what you experience out there. Our forum, just like our game, is a constant source of great feedback.
These changes are now live in all playlists*. After you play some games with the new settings, feel free to post in this thread with any feedback you have. Let us know what you think.
*All playlists excluding Trials of Osiris, which matches teams based on card wins.

More needs to be done regarding players that lag in the match I just had someone lag and cheat It ruins the game! The gamers name is ToxemicCorn3877 and that exactly what he was toxic ruined a very fun match even his team mates was teabaging him and I was green bar with full bar on Internet so I shouldn't be paired with people like him. Also think he tried to ddos at one point as I went to red with contacting destiny servers then went back to green for rest of the game pretty stupid....

3 RepliesJust had one of the worst crucible game ever. Server lost mid game black screen for 10 mins and got reconnected again. Lost all the kills and end up with a negative k/d. Why would I be logged to a game I had only red bar in the first place? We should be op to never join a game with bad connections!!!!!

20 RepliesEdited by RobbieWasHereNow: 12/18/2016 10:36:49 AMCheers for slipping sbmm back in during the dawning patch. Iron banner week was the best iv had since year 1. Some games we won and had fun, some games we got stomped but still had fun. I even had the best game ever. 17000 to 3000 down and i went off on one and managed to pull my team back to 18000 all and even took the lead for a split second, still lost but it felt good and Thats something i cant do in sbmm. Played this tuesdsy after the patch and back to sweaty and really really laggy matches iv even got some laughable footage which will be going on youtube. Aint been back on since tuesday and wont be on again til you make an anouncment on what the fuk you did

2 RepliesI'm convinced they changed the settings for Iron Banner.. then reverted right back to an even more harcore SBMM.. it takes 10 minutes to find a damn game.. and the first few people it pairs me with, I have 10 minutes, so I look them up.. yup all either equal or greater skill than me.. -blam!- the sandbox team

1 ReplyEdited by MrGwap03 (TIMELOST): 12/23/2016 5:07:09 AMHonestly I don't see a difference in better connection and I suffer from longer waiting times. The thing about connection issues is with the players not with the game. Players just need to stop gaming over WiFi. I still see super laggers. Edit. I don't care about being in sweaty games I think it's fun. Doesn't make the game boring. But it's not all about me lol.poor game devs and trying to cater to the mass.

Right now to me it seams just as laggy maybe its just me tho
-
Nope. Still laggy, sweaty players. Another miss, Bungie. Stop trying to place a placebo effect on us and just come clean.

STOP THE CARRY'S, SOMEONE OPEN TRAINING SOMEONE START AN TRAINING LIST/SERVICE FOR PEOPLE. There are people that would like to have a good beat down game of Trials of Osiris. but there are ones that would like a hard time to get that win. For me, i like to have fun and to play hard and easy teams in Trials. why do we need the salt? here is a new way to not get carry.... JUST ASK TO BE TRAINING IN THE ART OF THE CRUCIBLE PLAY. we all need a good training time and again, so why not train people in private match's. i am one who would like the training and there are more like me in this game that would enjoy it to. open up for some training just find me on Xbox one Freedomdxt. all see you in the crucible.

Match starts at 6v6 then suddenly Im back in orbit...is this bungies way to stack a win by changing the match to 5v6? My connection is solid and there were no red bars.. fycked up

I had to give DESTINY a break today, connection was not good enough ! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kQcmWbu0SoY

137 RepliesIf you want me to buy Destiny 2, go back to the way it was. You listened to a vocal minority of players who make their living off your game by streaming and posting YouTube videos of themselves wreaking havoc on other players. You just made it much easier for them to look good, while the average player is not going to enjoy the PvP side of the game as much.

Sparrow racing is a sweaty nightmare. Redbars teleporting (not via teleporters) and I even crossed the finish line 1st and the redbar behind me was awarded with a 1st place finish. Although this is mainly sarcasm that finishing 2nd after crossing the finish line 1st pissed me off. gg

Edited by Fejster73: 12/21/2016 6:48:53 PMSorry Bungo, your .004 change to matchmaking has resulted in no change for the positive. There's still the same amount of lag and pubstomping that ran wild before Bungo's supposed change. David Dague's "warning" of " careful what you wish for" has been lackluster at best. Please go back to Derek Carroll and tell him to go back to the sandbox until Bungo has a REAL solution. And no I won't be playing strikes in the interim. As always, David Dague;
Frank O'Connor sends his regards. Your Move.
Brought to you from the letter: C

3 RepliesMy experience over the past week is WAY more lag than usual.

10 RepliesEdited by SlyBlueCat: 12/22/2016 3:00:22 PMGo Steelers!!! December 25 -2:30 est Go Steelers !!!!!!!!!!! Rip the Raven's wings off. """""Down Voters Are Raven Fans and No One Likes You Anyways Except Baltimore""""""" Go Away and Watch the Game December 25, for one hell of a great game. Quote: The only thing that comes to mind is to make yourself so obnoxious that the out-of-town family is happy to be rid of you for a few hours on Christmas Day, which you then can use to watch Ravens at Steelers. The key is finding the right balance between being obnoxious enough not to be missed for a few hours and being so obnoxious that your family locks you out of the house. Good luck in finding that balance. Go Steelers !!!!!!!!!! The Steelers logo is based on the Steelmark logo belonging to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Created by U.S. Steel Corp. (now known as USX Corp.), the logo contains three hypocycloids (diamond shapes). In the 1950s, when helmet logos became popular, the Steelers added players' numbers to either side of their gold helmets. Later that decade, the numbers were removed and in 1962, Cleveland's Republic Steel suggested to the Steelers that they use the Steelmark as a helmet logo. When the Steelmark logo was created, U.S. Steel attached the following meaning to it: Steel lightens your work, brightens your leisure and widens your world. The logo was used as part of a major marketing campaign to educate consumers about how important steel is in our daily lives. The Steelmark logo was used in print, radio and television ads as well as on labels for all steel products, from steel tanks to tricycles to filing cabinets. In the 1960s, U.S. Steel turned over the Steelmark program to the AISI, where it came to represent the steel industry as a whole. During the 1970s, the logo's meaning was extended to include the three materials used to produce steel: yellow for coal, orange for ore and blue for steel scrap. In the late 1980s, when the AISI founded the Steel Recycling Institute (SRI), the logo took on a new life reminiscent of its 1950s meaning. The Steelers had to petition the AISI in order to change the word "Steel" inside the Steelmark to "Steelers" before the logo was complete. The Steelers are the only NFL team that sports their logo on only one side of the helmet. At first, this was a temporary measure because the Steelers weren't sure they would like the look of the logo on an all-gold helmet. They wanted to test them before going all-out. Equipment manager Jack Hart was instructed to put the logo only on one side of the helmet - the right side. The 1962 Steelers finished 9-5 and became the winningest team in franchise history to date. The team finished second in the Eastern Conference and qualified for the Playoff Bowl. They wanted to do something special for their first postseason game, so they changed the color of their helmets from gold to black, which helped to highlight the new logo. Because of the interest generated by having the logo on only one side of their helmets and because of their team's new success, the Steelers decided to leave it that way permanently. Today's helmet reflects the way the logo was originally applied and it has never been changed. """"""Down Voters Must Be Raven Fans."""""" Simple arithmetic- Go STEELERS !!!!!!!!!!!

4 RepliesSo they went back to SBMM. Lag fest, sweat fest
-
The crucible is an even bigger lagfest than it was before. It's virtually unplayable. I swear everytime you guys change something you screw it up way worse than before.
-
Connections in Control, Clash, Rift, ect., have been a lot worse, but I blame SRL.
-
No different, or ... well its different, because its worse.
-
Seriously wtf with these matchmaking changes? Why the hell am I, a totally average player having to go up against top tier players and get absolutely destroyed. Don't tell me I learn anything by this kind of experience. Some of these players are light years beyond my ability. Well done to all those idiots that demanded these changes.
-
4 RepliesI have never been in more sweaty games and laggy games during my time on destiny until after this update.

1 ReplyGetting fuking fed up with the red bar lag in this game
