Today the development team is making a few changes to Matchmaking settings with the goal of improving your experiences in the Crucible. Here is a quote straight from the team with some details about what is being changed.
[quote]
We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general.
As always, our work in designing a Crucible experience that serves all players is never finished. Be sure to let us know what you experience out there. Our forum, just like our game, is a constant source of great feedback.

These changes are now live in all playlists*. After you play some games with the new settings, feel free to post in this thread with any feedback you have. Let us know what you think.

Edited by Elysiae: 12/20/2016 8:22:16 PMSeems to me there was no change. Still laaaaag & it definitely looks for skill. Also, the timo for the MM takes soooooo long, and iht starrts as a 4v4 like wtf

I wanted to wait and comment on this until I played for a bit this past reset...I didn't see any real change but it's not like my hopes were all that high. All in all I know you can't just go in and fix this horrible mess you have created so......please please don't repeat it in destiny 2.
-
Nothing has changed. I'm in the US and constantly playing red bars from Brasil and Latin America. Love the people, hate the red bar skipping game play.
-
every game i play there's a minimum of 3 people lagging...new match making sucks D!CK
-
1 ReplyYou made it worse. How did you do that?
-
The changes are terrible.
-
Srl should be sbmm
-
I'm enjoying it ! still lag occasionally https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxvafr4dS7k
-
8 RepliesThe changes have made crucible a slightly better place. - Day 1 player.
-
Make trials less sweaty again (at least the first couple games) Reset 3 cards last night then finally gave up after getting 2000 elos for 3 games straight
-
I sometimes have good games and other times bad ones but I would rather be put in games with a better connection VS skill based. I do crucible / IB for fun I dont really care about my KD b/c ive always gone back and forth as far as having good runs and bad ones
-
Had a few games last night, same old shit!
-
So i played about 6 or 7 matches in the last few days after not playing for a few months to give pvp another shot. Nope, im done again. Skill still takes much more priority than connection, just a tiny bit less than before. Anybody with a brain can tell its mostly the same.
-
I'm still gonna play destiny no matter what haha https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxvafr4dS7k
-
Connections are worst than before wtf. Cbmm should be in trials too, especially for a -blam!-ing lighthouse gamemode
-
3 RepliesTrials is -blam!-ed up so sick of every match playing two streamers carrying somebody it's b******* it's not skill base because these people are way better than me nowhere near my skill. trials in year one and two are a lot better, year 3 sucks Ballz I'm done with trials till fixed
-
Day one player with over 3000 hours on destiny. I play with 4 or 5 players that have the same number of hours if not more on this game. Everybody says the same thing, PvP has never been so broken. The lag is worse than ever. The game is being killed by incompetence on bungies part.
-
1 ReplyWhere is the connection improvement? Why does every match have 2-3 red bar warriors who dominate? Just remove all poor connections from matchmaking and let those of us with quality connections battle it out regardless of skill. It's been over 2 years and you still haven't fixed this shit. If you red bar for more than 30 seconds kick their a$$es to orbit. If i start to red bar for any reason i leave the match and reset my router and console. This is not too much to ask!!!!

3 RepliesEdited by JHarv: 12/19/2016 7:29:31 PMIf your kd is below a 1.3, you can't really speak on the matter. If you're average, there are tens of thousands of other players in your skill bracket ready to match up with you at any given time. Only when you get into the upper 5-10% do you start to notice a difference. SBMM is still as strong as ever. I routinely queue into the same people. Roughly 1/4 of my games start as a 5v4. Almost all of my games involve players in another continent. And pretty much every player in all of my games is playing the meta. I don't know why Bungie feels the need to segregate the community into skill brackets, behind the scenes, and act like it isn't happening, but it is. And it's no fun for the upper 10%. Not because we don't get to beat up on noobs, but because we don't get to play with 90% of the community. That involves more people in our region with better connections, more people who aren't playing the meta, and so on. By no means do I think it's fair to beat up on new players. But, to force me into a high ranked, high skilled lobby with players from around the world is not fun for me. I'd like to not be forced to play like my life depends on it just to get above a 1.0. I'd like to not be murdered 5 times a game by some weird rubber band lagger. I'd like to be able to kick back and have a few games where I can do well like I should because I am a better player than most. In my opinion, every game should have diverse teams. Every team should have one good player, one bad player! And a bunch int the middle. If I'm that good player for a few games and beat up on everyone! So be it! I deserve it because I am skilled. In year 1, I earned my 1.9 kd as a solo player beating up on most of the community, becasue I am better than most of the community. My kd was reflective of my skill. Now, nobody knows shit about how good people are because you might be sweating vs the top players for a 1.3 or you might be bunched with noobs as an average player for a 1.3. Every crucible team should reflect the population. One good player, one bad player, and everyone else somewhere in the middle. I'm usually the good player, but it sure doesn't feel like it right now because I'm classified as high skilled and therefore don't get the benefit of playing against the community anymore.

Not a good change

5 RepliesEdited by Z1k: 12/19/2016 12:30:31 PMAll I have to say is the changes are shit
-
Getting shot through a wall is waaaaay to common. I see the bullets going through like nothing an hotting me behind cover
-
The match making sucks, its never a 6v6. Just get rid of SBMM. This is a game not a sport, we are here to have fun. Year one we never had this problem. If they really want people to treat this as a sport make a play list with SBMM
-
Match making sucks
-
1 Reply6 crucible matches today, every one with at least 3 red bar glitchers. PVP just keeps getting worse and worse and worse.
-
I swear I either have a 2.0 or a -.026 ... I have no inbetween at the moment
