Um, no.
Most of the new snipers are in the Efrideet's Spear/Black Spindle/Zen Meteor class of snipers. They are high-impact/ low AA snipers that only have three round magazines.
Yes they can snipe people out of supers, but at the cost of less ammo, less AA, and slower handling than the Longbow-class which always has a four-round mag, snappier handling and more AA.

Edited by Kacyinix: 12/8/2016 3:07:29 AMWhat I'm saying is that Bungie nerfed the Longbow archetype snipers so that the Longbow archetype snipers couldn't one-shot out of supers. Then, in Rise of Iron, they released the But Not Forgotten and The Winged Word. These two snipers are both in the Longbow archetype, yet they could still one-shot out of supers because they have more impact. It's self-contradictory.
-
They have ballistics. And they can't can OHK supers with super high armor
-
The nerfed them so that they could no longer reliably snipe someone out of a super. You can still do it----or have it done TO you-----in situations where there are light-level advantage or if someone running a low armor/high agility build.
-
My point is that The Winged Word, But Not Forgotten, and Stillpiercer can reliably kill someone out of super without light level advantages. They all have barrel perks/ballistic options instead of scopes and these barrel options give the snipers more impact.
-
Without the light-level advantage, it then becomes an issue of how much armor the person is running. ...and when you play against good players (unless they are Titan skating, shotgun warriors) they tend to run higher amounts of agility and lower amounts of armor. When Bungie made the change, they made it clear that the rifle would not be able ****reliably*** snipe people out of supers. If you want to be able to do that REGARDLESS of build or light advantage, you need to run the Efrideet's Spear -class of sniper.
-
That was the theory, but these three Snipers can still do it because they have more impact: But Not Forgotten The Winged Word Stillpeircer I don't know what more you want me to tell you. It has been tested. All three of these snipers, even though they have the same rate-of-fire as Longbow/1KYS, they still reliably kill out of supers, regardless of armor.
-
Those three are unique weapons and can't swap scopes like most snipers. They have ballistic options instead, like exotics. One or more of the options increases their impact enough to kill supers.

I said that in my earlier reply to kellygreen2.
