Into the Hellmouth: Author's Note

Into the Hellmouth: Master Post link To quote the author Christopher Paolini, “Kvetha fricaya. Greetings, Friends.” Sometimes, I can’t help but wonder at how far this story has come. As a matter of fact, it almost didn’t happen. Some of you are probably familiar with this story (I’ve told it at least once before, but here it goes again). I started Into the Hellmouth many months ago, and posted part one on the bungie forums. In all honesty, I then proceeded to completely forget about the story for a few months. However, I eventually decided to give it a whirl again, only to find that my aging computer had accidentally deleted the file. I searched on the bungie forums for the original part one, but couldn’t find it there either. I almost despaired, only to find a forum post that stated that many posts had accidentally been made unavailable, and that Bungie was working to get them back up. Lo and behold, the original part one of Into the Hellmouth happened to be one of those lost parts. I was able to find it, and resumed work on the story. Back then, I had no idea how big this story would become. At the time, I believed that this would be little more than a twenty-thousand word story. That may seem like a lot to some, but remember that most novels these days are 80,000 words or more - twenty thousand words seems paltry by comparison. Yet here we are, 72 parts and 79,000 words later, and only now has it reached it’s conclusion. Wow. Writing Into the Hellmouth has been an incredibly gratifying experience. You all have given me amazing feedback, and it has been my pleasure to share this story with you. Thank you all for sticking with me throughout this story. Every comment I see, every up vote you guys give me, is another thing that I’m thankful for. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. Other Fanfictions. I’ve written several other fanfics on Destiny over the years. Here’s some links if you want to read them! Village on a Hill: A Destiny Story Rasputin and the Flayers House of Rain Fanfic: Part One To answer your immediate question, no, there is no Part Two to the House of Rain fanfiction, and there likely never will be. I stopped writing the story due to lore issues with it. However, I still really enjoyed writing the first part, and I also fell in love with Paskin’s character. I’d really like to work him into the lore someday, somehow. Future Projects The immediate future is fairly straightforward: I will be revising into the Hellmouth so that it fits better with the lore. The most significant revisions will happen to parts 1-5, which do not stay as true to the lore as I’d like. Also, I’m just not that satisfied with them on the whole. However, aside from those first five parts, the story should remain largely intact. Once I have the final draft done, I will send it off to Bungie, and shortly after that, I’ll just publish it on the forums. After this, I have two smaller projects planned; a brief Epilogue to the story called “Now I can Rest,” which should go live sometime next week. After that, I will be publishing a brief fanfic about the cabal - it won’t be any longer than two parts. Also, I may be doing more group projects in the future. This year, I got to work with SmartAurm75 and his series, Guardians Rising (Link to that here). I didn’t get to work with him as much as I’d like to due to time constraints (being in college is hard, okay?), but it was fun doing so! However, my next big project will likely be a story called “The Journey Home.” It will be the story of a little girl who, along with her village, travels towards the City with a titan of the Pilgrim Guard. I’d like to thank The Muzzy for letting me use his idea, which is the basis for his story. Here’s a link to his fan fiction (Fireteam Ashen) and his amazing Lore Post! After “The Journey Home,” my next big project will be a fan fiction about The Last Word and Thorn. I’m likely going to structure it as our Guardian finding the two hand canons, and then learning their history. Name and date TBA. Lastly, I’d like to talk about that House of Rain fanfiction. I know I just said that there would never be a part two, but like I said, I’m absolutely in love with Paskin’s character. You can count on seeing him in a future fanfiction! Also, this post doubles as an AMA! If you have any questions, go ahead and shoot them off in the comments! That’s all I really have to say, but just let me say this one more time: thank you all so much for taking the time to read the story. Wether you’ve been here since the beginning, or if you just started reading it now, it really means a lot to me that you all show up to read my stories. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart. For further updates, please follow me on twitter here. -Sullys201623

 • There are several things I'd like to say. 1) I know I haven't read this series as much as I should've, but from what I read, it was a great series. It's such a shame that such a good series must come to an end. 2) Most fanfictions, including most of mine, don't stick to the lore. As for my FF, I told a basic story of my Guardian and his team, but I threw lore out the window. However, your series, the first I've seen to tell a story based off of lore, inspired me to do a more lore based series myself. Thus Crossing the Rubicon was born. I want to thank you for that, because I am really liking how it is turning out. 3) Lastly, you mentioned doing a series on the Cabal. I love the military aspect of Cabal and actually have been focusing on them as of late. If you ever need help on that, let me know.
