That was before they realized elemental primaries made PvE too easy. And unfortunately everything else from that year got held back as well.

Actually it didn't. It only made Nightfall easier and it was on a rotation. So burn wasn't used all the time. Nightfall is a once a week event and the burn happened once in a while. It wasn't every single month either like gamers try to put it out as if it was. Other then that they were not used all the time. I used multi tool more often back then or other raid weapons. The legendaries weren't used as much because Bungie's dumbass doesn't know how to make weapons that can compete. They either over do 1 or 2 or create more weapons that are less effective that will always have less of a value. Then the dumbasses will nerf something and it's entire category making more weapons have less of a value. Then has the balls to say we wanted weapons to feel the same across the entire bored and we wanted to creat more of a "variety" Yeah, crucible really shows that variety lol. Hey Bungie? When gamers always go to the next go-to after your nerf happy team has their fun because gamers are using a certain weapon too much. Is that what you call variety?

  • Yeah, loved that retroactive nerf on every single year one gun at the launch of TTK. Put the game down for months after that. It was a bullshit move them and it still is today.

  • nah,the real reason why bungie left all thos guns back in year one was because thy made them too good, if you bring them all back there is no way people would use the new stuff. why would you want to grind for a god roll sniper when they have Efrideet's Spear they just want us to forget about the old overly perfect guns and grind for the new meta

  • That is actually not true at all. Explain how all y1 was so OP in PvE knowing the only weapons that put Bungie statues to shame was... Icebreaker Ghorn Black hammer that was game braking that they reskind it and called it black spindle lol. Truth. Please explain how thorn was so OP in PvE? Lol. Infact, explain how all the rest of y1 was OP in PvE especially knowing the Nightfall had a rotation with burn and the burn didn't apply in PvP. This oughta be good lol.

  • never said anything about PvE and the concept of thorn as a PvE weapon is laughable so idont know what you find untrue, but ill give it my best shot to make a good comeback to that. i think you misunderstood me when i said "all thos guns back in year one" i didnt mean all the guns in year one, i just meant that the guns im taking about came from year one. if you think those are the only guns that were op then you need to step in to pvp for a little Efrideet's Spear-with the best perks able to kill with one shot to the body + reload fast as ell torn- able to kill with 2 shots body 1 head and a little time + keep damage on enemies to slow recovery time + helps track enemies though walls.(not a PvE weapon) nerfed but still a very usable gun Jolder's Hammer- best heaves iv ever had in Pvp it would guarantee an easy 5 kills, on a good days even 10 kills see, it wasnt all about PVE

That's the trouble - it's never about PvE, is it? Most PvP players don't care one bit how their requests damage the other side - in fact, many laugh about it. Unfortunately Mark K. (think that's the sandbox lead's name) seems to agree with them, and he makes the call. As for Thorn in PvE... guess you didn't play that much PvE, or if you did, with others. I saw plenty use Thorn. It wasn't my choice, but then again, I don't favor hand cannons the way others do. Heck, I also saw guys running Hawkmoon in CE. Efrideet's and indeed all snipers were a problem because of a single perk - final round. Tell me it's not true. I don't think you really care about that though... inconvenient truths are that way...

  • i stand corrected, apparently a lot of people share your opinion on thorn. back in those days i was a scout rifle guy, in PvE and PvP matter of fact i think thorn was the first hand cannon i played with, so you can see why im a bit hard on it as a PvE gun. unfortunately im a xbox player so hawkmoon wasn't there for me when i needed it the most, but it is an all around good gun today, no surprise that it was use in CE. did use fatebringer in ce tho, just epic. never really had a problem with snipers, once you know they're on the map you can pretty much predict were they're go to be hanging out. final round was a great perk and with only a 3 round sniper with fast reload it was epic. maybe too epic it not that i dont care. or some how the truth hurts my ears. i just understand why tho guns were left back. kinda pointless to not up date them now the destiny 2 is coming out soon tho. still have all my favorite out dated gun in storage in case that happens

  • Quick question; why should Bungie care which gun I'm using if I'm having fun? If Bungie's new guns are turds and I ignore them, should I be happy they turned the guns I loved into turds as well? We are supposed to thank them for that?

bungie's goal is to get new players each dlc, not keep old ones... thought that was made apparent by now
Don't get mad at me. I'm just your accountant, don't blame me for the numbers. Jokes aside I understand your sentiment, I literally stuck with this game for way too long. It's in the trash dumpster now. Bungie needs to do a 180 to get this shit back together, by my standards that is.
they care because if everyone got the best guns in year one, and there is no forward progression into the games DLCs and what not. then no one would play ex. Fatebringer, one of if not the best primary in the game year one. year 2 Fatebringer gone, but we got a chance to roll a imago loop with Fatebringer perks. now everyone is farming strikes trying to get imago loop. no one would care about imago if fatebringers damage was up to par. more people playing for longer= money when new dlc comes out . its not about what the player wants, its about keeping them motivated to play

...and your argument falls apart. "Chance to roll an Imago Loop with Fatebringer perks"? How disappointed were you when you found out it isn't even close to being a Fatebringer? Don't even try to defend that - I have both. Fatebringer hands-down is the better gun, by far. "It's not about what the player wants, it's about keeping them motivated to play"? Are you kidding me? Know what motivates me? What I want. They are intrinsically linked concepts. My counter argument is this: "Know what demotivates me to play? Taking away the things I like." I admit, I'm a simple man; if I put time into getting something, I consider it mine. Now I might be convinced to give it up, but only if I get something comparative in quality or better in the bargain. Bungie took great stuff and replaced it with vastly inferior material. That told me two things Bungie should never have communicated: 1. They can (and will) periodically and arbitrarily ruin weapons I've ground for, and (more importantly); 2. It was pointless to grind for weapons that will be periodically and arbitrarily ruined. My play time was cut in half the second I realized this truth. So please, tell me again, how did removing such carrots help players like me to remain motivated to play?

  • I wouldn't want an imago loop with fatebringer perks. It doesn't have any range perks. Tons of missed shots from bloom, even within range. Pve you'll have to get in too close which will more than likely get you killed. If the match game and iron clad modifiers are on it's even worse. So the burn is a good reason to have the fatebringer. Imago loop will get destroyed in pvp with all the fatebringer perks. Without rifled barrel and range finder it won't stand a chance.

  • lol, hate for my argument to fall apart when you just proved my point.unless your the luckiest person in the world, theres no way you got the god roll imago loop without farming it. anyways, no i never had the chance to play with a FB rolled imago loop but i was lucky enough to get one with ok perks and i would put it in my top 5 primary guns for PvE (in year 3). disappointed?, not so much. if this demotivates you to play, then way are you still playing? what motivates people to play more is not the reward, it the path to the reward. if the only thing that motivates you is what you want, and what you want is to use year one guns, then let me let you in on a little secret that you dont seem to know about. bungie has never taken any guns they are still usable for year one content like vault of glass or crota's end, that never changed, so play on my friend.

  • The reason why they were so good was because of the perks, not the burns. If you took away arc damage from the Fatebringer, would it still be godly? Of course it would!

  • this isn't about primary weapons having burn, it's about them becoming obsolete when bungie themselves said "The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete."

  • i personaly prefered primary weapons with burns, yes most of the time i would use the fang of ir yut (which was arc) as it was more of a scout rifle meta at the time, along with a good sniper rifle such as the ice breaker (which was solar) just because i didn't want to run out of ammo on secondary and a solid rocket laucher or machine gun (which was void) therefore covering all situations, with a few other weaapons from which i could switch to for different enemies. the fact is people follow the meta now more than ever rather than having their own favorite weapons to use. every person has there own playstyle and distance they like to fight and are usually more comfortable at that range, with scouts and snipers they allowed for a long range battle with few hits from enemies where as auto rifles and shotguns were close range or suppresion weapons. so it all depended on what playstlye you used where as offensive, defensive or neutral playstyles all worked in year 1 and up until elemental primaries were removed, now however it's more continue firing at close range and hope you don't die before you can find cover.

  • lol, that was my exact load out from TDB to TTK. I really miss my Fang of Ir Yut, Word of Crota, Hunger of Crota, Hezen Vengeance, Vision of Confluence, Fatebringer & Vex Mythoclast. I still have them vaulted but their just a trophy now, except Vex I still rock it in Crucible from time to time lol

  • My loadout as well. I was happy. I hurt no one. Well, other than butthurt players who I never joined in a fireteam who felt it was their place to dictate to total strangers how to play and what guns to use.

  • Elemental primaries did the exact opposite of Bungie's reason for dropping them, lack of variety. Don't believe me? Every weapon class had at least one with each damage type, that's variety

  • What no? Elemental primaries only mattered in the nightfall and most of the time now they don't even have burns. If anything elemental primaries made me switch my weapons more to match the activity. Now I pretty much run with the same primary in every pve situation because there's no reason to change it whereas before if we were fighting vex I'd run a void primary like: word of crota, atheon's epilogue, the messenger, the scholar, etc. Now all I use is the steel medulla or maybe my hung jury.
