So, you decided this coming IB is going to be Rift.
Now any other time, I'd be fine with it. It's something different from control and clash, helps spice things up. Cool.
However, you guys have allowed Rift to be IB before. It didn't go well, it's very obvious that quite a few people didn't approve of that decision.
Now I'm sure you guys have data from that IB that was Rift the first time. I'm sure you saw from the data that there were ALOT of blow outs.
This is the part that confuses the hell out of me. Your ideology of matchmaking in general is to make sure that skill is a pretty large factor when creating a lobby. You want to make sure that blowouts aren't happening often because, let's be real, no one enjoys that obnoxiously.
So when you put those two things together you get a game type that often results in blow outs but a matchmaking system that is implemented to reduce blow outs.
How can you make Rift an acceptable IB variant if your matchmaking, that has been getting hell for months, goes completely against what Rift causes ?
Look, I get it, there's a part of the playerbase (I'm assuming it's a small part) that does actually enjoy Rift. Hey, I do too sometimes, it can be enjoyable.
But if that small portion of the playerbase is being catered to, then why is the small portion of skilled player's not being supported. How can you support one thing but not the other when it is actually possible to support both ?
I just can't wrap my head around this decision and how these two things clash with each other.
I mean hell, why not allow Mayhem as a variant instead ? I'm sure that will receive much more praise. Why would you do things to piss your playerbase off unless you're legitimately doing it on purpose to pull our strings ?
If anyone can fill me in on how this makes any sense what so ever, I'm down to try and listen so I can understand this craziness.

Here is the stream where they specifically stated that it could still happen. At the end they said probably not, but that's not the same as saying no... https://clips.twitch.tv/bungie/EncouragingHumanDendiFace

They said Rift wasn't a good fit and then changed the way IB worked. It's no longer about winning to get rewards and I think that was where the frustration stemmed from. And yes, I know, it's stupid to think that not winning should be a part of any equation when it comes to PvP but the reality is that most people play IB for the rewards and now they can get them without relying on a win.

6 RepliesRead your first link. It was stated that it's possible. Noone from Bungie ever said it was going to be taken out. Also, those sources are from Reddit. Can you actually show any proof on b.net, or in a twitch stream?

1 Reply"Bungie" and "logic" don't go in the same sentence.

4 RepliesEdited by Jvp WReNCh: 12/2/2016 5:56:16 AMIt's hilarious that Derek's exact words were "it could happen", but your 2nd link is some reddit troll saying "IB rift no longer possible." Your thread highlights everything I hate about this community, & I bet you'll get a bunch of up votes & nerds talking about how Bungie lied to us again.
Level_1_WarriorCrucible Test Lead • 50d I believe an explicit statement was not made, but inferred. We will feature Rift in future Iron Banner events, sorry for any confusion.
5 RepliesSBMM makes playing Crucible for the average/below average player more enjoyable. FACT. CBMM back in year 1 saw many many games where players would get stomped because of their skill level. FACT. IB Rift is going to remind the average/below average just how lucky they truly are that CBMM has not been implemented. FACT
