It's a brand new game. It should feel that way. You buy a game, start with nothing, play it, get loot, beat it. Buy the next game, restart, play it, get loot, beat it. Apparently for this entitled community it's you buy it, start with nothing, play it, get loot, beat it, buy the next game, breeze through the whole game in an hour because you're max level then complain how there is no content all because you didn't want to lose your precious matador. And repeat from so on.
I honestly don't get it
You played this game, put hours into it, I get it, but that doesn't mean you get the easy pass to the next game. It will be fair to all player, good player, bad ones, and new ones who's first destiny is destiny two. You'll start on the same playing field and those who love the game will progress faster, because they play the game more. Oh? What's that, you don't have time to play this game a lot because you have to work so you want you previous character? Sure put a lot of time into him ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
So explain to me why your entitled ass should get to skip through the main focus of the game, in an entirely brand new game

I only want our shaders, ships, emotes and emblems to carry over. Guns, faction rep and armour? Clean slate for sure.

I hope Destiny 2 starts us off as a new guardian and our first mission is in like South East Asia or something and we're clearing out some Fallen. After the mission our boss man tells us that we have a virtuous fighting spirit like the guardian (that'd be the D1 guardian) that bested the City's greatest foes. So our old guardian would be an inspiration for our new guardian. Just a thought.

I dont care about characters I CARE ABOUT MY GODDAMN GOD ROLL WEAPONS

3 RepliesEdited by DrPhilaBole: 11/30/2016 4:18:32 PMokay man, here is how you can start all over without making everyone else do it. start new characters when D2 releases, let us keep our old ones, and keep your nose out of my game experience EDIT: I'd like to add WTF does it matter to you, as you cannot even play ROI in that PS3? How about you worry about getting current gen before caring what happens in Destiny 2

4 RepliesIt's what I've been led to believe since 2014. Hence why I've made this my de facto game and invested so much time in it. http://m.uk.ign.com/articles/2014/12/07/bungie-wants-player-progress-to-carry-over-to-destiny-sequel

The sense of connection that makes this game the players. Like master chief, you are the protagonist. I think it would be cool that the story is progressed with the character/s the player created. There does not need to be advantages or any perks, just the continuation.
-
Unless it's a complete reboot of the original game it wouldn't make any sense lore-wise. Imagine if the Master Chief was a completely new character each Halo game. I just wouldn't work. I can see where you're coming from. You're bad at this game and want to restart all your stats so in the next game everyone can be on equal ground. Also, they don't have to make it where you get your OG character right off the bat. They can probably make it where you complete a certain percent of the game and you get some sort of consumable that'll get you all your stuff back.
Psst hey pal. I suggest you quit being salty and upset. You'll find yourself a lot happier in the long run.
1 ReplyWhat are you actually asking? I cannot fathom whever you think we should lose all the characters and gear we currently have or whether we should start with them but totally reset?
Apparently for this entitled community
Meaningless slogan designed to marginalise, if you want to debate do so properly, don't try and stifle it with this stuff.
I get it, but that doesn't mean you get the easy pass to the next game.
How would that hurt? How would it be an easy pass? If you were to buy Warcraft today you could choose to start at a high level or work your way through all previous content. Why can't this happen with Destiny? There is already a level boost function anyway.
So explain to me why your entitled ass should get to skip through the main focus of the game, in an entirely brand new game
Well you haven't explained why not? There are many games that do allow that. The story from D1 has not finished yet and much like any sequel one would expect their to be continuity. There are games that don't have sequels like that but others that do. This is not a sense of entitlement but people's reaction to sequels in general. I don't think it is a stretch to consider them featuring the same characters at all or even continuing with the original character. Maybe D2 will be set a millennium in the future or something which would validate your point. In general though I think it is a socially accepted norm that sequels feature the same characters. Until we find out more about D2 and the story I think both sides of this argument have an opinion which can be validated. That's fine but it certainly doesn't permit one side to start calling others, "entitled" just to shut down their voices and attempt to censor them with name calling.

2 RepliesThey should transfer the Guardian but no gear start at the bottom but have your original guardian.
-
1 ReplyDESTINY "Become Legend"
**only once a few years because you'll have to restart a brand new legend with your original Guardian's cousin and whatnot**
-
2 RepliesBecause bungie said we could on there launch trailer of this game, and there 10 year plan of continually keeping your same guardian during the process. Why change there original idea now?
-
No reason
-
Ya, I agree. They should just make it like every other game. Why be original and have a character to progress through a adventure over time. Who cares if you could have a choice to start fresh for those who would like or continue an adventure with a character you have tattooed on your back. No one wants choices.

-
I just want my emblems tbh....
-
It depends tbh
-
You're right. I guess it is impossible for us to keep our characters, while starting a new storyline, at the beginning light level for Destiny 2. It's not like Bungie knows how increase or decrease light level, so if we start Destiny 2 at 400, we'll be far too OP for the content. No way that could be done. I mean it's not like that's how mmorpg's typically work. Create character, keep character through multiple games. All those people who still play Warcraft after all these years can't be using the same characters. They have to be lying. Oh and besides that, Bungie told us our characters would stay with us throughout our journey to become legend. So ... yeah.
-
2 RepliesI could careless. Dedicated servers snd a story is what i want.
-
Edited by NoStatsHereMate: 12/1/2016 5:19:58 AMOnly Emblems, Shaders, and a few of the other more collectable things (ships, sparrows, some ghosts, etc) should carry over. Everything else should be reset. However, we should keep our guardian. It should still feel like a sequel. They just need to sort out a way that explains how we lost everything.
-
I've put hours upon hours into this game but I want a fresh start again. Nothing to carry over. Build and grind all over again. I doubt it will happen since it is all about becoming legend. I really hope all weapons and armour become obsolete though in terms of power
-
I only want emblems, shaders, and ships to carry ovet. Other than that I want a fresh start.
-
Because.
-
I JUST WANT MY SHADERS AND EMBLEMS MAN *sob*
-
2 RepliesYoure looking at this the wrong way. My Guardian has been through all of these things and I've done so many things with my Guardian. So now my Guardian has sentimental value. And this is the same for so many people. So what we want is not to go into Destiny 2 at 400 Light with overpowered weapons. We want to go into Destiny 2 with the same Guardian. Of course the stats will refresh, if gear is carrying over it will be rescaled appropriately, or there might be new gear only, we expect this to happen. But what we do not want is to have to create a brand new Guardian. We want to know that our Guardian moves through the Destiny ages with us. At least, I know I do.
-
Because. Reasons.
-
As others have likely said below. Our guardian should transfer over to destiny 2, it's a sequel continuing our legend of course we should keep our guardians! But what shouldn't transfer over is all out powers and gear... Crash land on a new planet after the darkness finds its way to earth and we get sapped of our light until there's only a fragment left that we have to rebuild. And of course our weapons and armour are broken in the crash so we have to avoid combat until we find the first settlement to gain new gear.

You uuhm... Never played a lot of RPG's/mmorpg's have you? As in.... You are completely missing the point of the people requesting it.
