What are some the best mods for Skyrim? I don't really want to do anything too game-breaking, but what are some basic ones I could get started with? Textures, graphics, combat, that sort of thing.

Unofficial Skyrim Patch is a must have. I personally recommend the Cutting Room Floor & Tweaked Arrows and Bolts. You might also like Realistic AI Detection later on. I'll give you the links https://mods.bethesda.net/#en/workshop/skyrim/mod-detail/2947804 https://mods.bethesda.net/#en/workshop/skyrim/mod-detail/2955575 https://mods.bethesda.net/#en/workshop/skyrim/mod-detail/3086774 https://mods.bethesda.net/#en/workshop/skyrim/mod-detail/3013563

2 RepliesIf you are looking for roughly the same experience you had on the 360 but with some nice non intrusive changes i'd recommend all the mods this guy lists: https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/5duxe4/picking_up_skyrim_special_edition_this_black/ Only thing I want to point out on their list is the better meshes mod. It's performance wildly changes depending on the console. Mine in particular struggles running smoothly with this on. Some players can run it and other heavy visual changes and things stay fine for them. Also I'd recommend you steer clear of open cities unless you plan on running a mostly bare save. As there are a lot of mods that just don't work with it. and in my experience if you massively overhaul the visuals it increases the frequency of noticable frame drops and crashes. Wet and cold seems to be hit and miss on what will and won't show up depending on what mods you are using. Oh also if you are a vampire you don't get the cold breath effect from this mod. Also some mods will cause faces to be really messed up. Usually this is due to bad porting of mods but some of it is due to mod order. for instance if you have any mods that will visually effect your companion including animations need to be loaded closer to the top of your mod list. As for me I don't remember all the mods I run in this current playthrough. But better vampires is one. Really gives you free reign over it for much better roleplaying. I also prefer the mod violense over the "big" series of mods when it comes to kill moves. more flexible and detailed. Plus it includes some animations the other one doesn't. If you decide to run the mod that lets you slit throats along with knock people out along side the better vampire mod there will be some conflictions. For one to knock out someone you need to be unarmed and have already fed on the person. Slitting someone's throat is only an option if you have your weapons drawn when sneaking. Sneak feeding can have some weird interactions as well especially if it's supposed to kill them (as indicated by the mod) so beware of that. I do have a few slightly more intrusive mods that don't take too much away from the experience. there is one that adds in new types of monsters every level milestone you reach which is an interesting way to give more life to the cast of enemies. I also have a mod that adds much more dragon models with new attacks. I also HIGHLY recommend KS hair lite, adorable females, saraphim female body replacer, and beautiful eyes. Really makes females as a whole much better. Ashra is another modder that produces quality visuals for players and companions. Last bit of info I can give you...Sometimes even disabling and then deleting won't make things 100% square. If it doesn't here is what I do. Disable the mod, load up my save. save the game. delete the mod. and quit then reload the game. Also this is 100% optional but I usually put my mods in a certain order unless the mod specifies where it should be placed in the load order: world altering mods, game altering mods like new enemies new perks, tweaks to existing mechanics etc, anything sound related, any player or companion related mods, and finally anything that's just straight up additions like new weapons. Really it's just an organizing method. Not really an optimal one. Also don't be intimidated by the load order. A good majority of the mods that are out there for the most part will tell you what it does and doesn't work with and where it should be in your load order. Closer to the top/before mean the same thing and closer to the bottom/after mean the same thing. Good luck!

Just a question, did the bug that caused the staff of magnus to not transition to health absorption get fixed?

13 RepliesEdited by brandorobot: 11/30/2016 4:17:41 PMSkyrim graphic overhaul Lush overhaul Dense grass Climates of tamriel True storms Enhanced night Wet and cold Realistic water two Enhanced blood textures Immersive sounds Open cities (No load times when entering cities) Go away map clouds (Self explanatory but makes the map 100x easier to see) These mods will make your game look awesome without any noticeable performance issues I've seen. There are other graphic mods out there but while experimenting with them I found these have not caused crashes or frame drops and still look good.

The best one I recently installed was a mod that added morrowind and oblivion music

Edited by ALIAS-F4LS: 12/1/2016 5:54:16 AMSophia. As far as companion mods go she's hilarious and well... kinda cute as far as video game characters go. True storms alongside wet and cold are pretty together. Just makes the weather more believable. As for armor just throw a bunch of pretty gear into the game. Fun for personalizing your character. I also added dragon and deadric cults since well... It just seemed right.

4 RepliesMine crashed 😢 Possible overheating with too many mods? Or a disruption/overlap in the load order? The game froze then kicked me to Xbox home screen

Better Vampires and the Werebear mod. The latter just replaces your wolf skin with a Werebear skin, but it actually does that to all werewolves in the game. Makes the companions quest line kinda insane lol. Uhh.. no vampire attacks in cities is a good one. Faster leveling and apocalypse magic are good as well, but to be honest the spells from this aren't effective in terms of damage scaling. Enhanced smithing so that you get smithing rep from doing more things. You can use the tanning rack to level smithing with it, as well as dismantle weapons and armor got various crafting parts and ingots.

I don't have the game, but the unofficial skyrim patch seems like a must to me.

2 RepliesIf anyone is reading this and is on PS4, don't look at PC or Xbox One mods, you will be sad. Just stick with the PS4 mods and as long as you don't look at the other, you will be plenty happy.
