Skeleton Keys Involving Xur

So I saw a post where someone said to make Xur sell Skeleton Keys for 100 strange coins each, but I made a comment about how people running around with 800+ strange coins could hit that shiny 400 light level in 3 weeks tops. So I made a suggestion that some people liked that I want to get other peoples opinion on. What if it was implemented that Xur sold 'Uncharged' keys in which they can't be used until you've completed a specific amount of strikes. (I'm thinking between 5-8) then when you've completed that many strikes it becomes a skeleton key. This way you're still earning it but it's not just an endless grind yielding no rewards Edit: This post was not me complaining about Rng or Skeleton Key drop rates. I was merely trying make a suggestion for those who keep saying make Xur sell them :)

  • its not really tough to get to 400 outside of using skeleton keys.. just knowing the correct and most efficient way to maximize your time seems to be what is holding people back.. two things skeleton keys do not provide, chest and legs.. keys to people that are already 400 or people that dont care to reach 400 are using them for specific guns with specific rolls.. so i see no issue if xur sells them..

    • Currently I have no issues getting skeleton keys.. 4 keys in 10 strikes yesterday... day before was 3 in about 15.. I don't what you guys have done to piss off RNGeebus, but seek atonement... Getting skeleton keys is not an issue. I found I have never got an exotic ever on sepsis perfected, or a skeleton key either.. maybe you're farming the wrong strike?

          • I'll take your 1 key in 5-8 strikes over my 1 in 20 ratio I've been enjoying since Yr 3 launched. Seriously, I've done roughly 80 strikes and have a total of 4 keys to show for it.

            • It's rng for the key to drop, its rng for the item you want to appear and then it's rng for that piece of gear to have the roll you want... Let xur sell keys Allow the chest to offer options like how faction packages offer armour, weapons or chroma... But no, this is too rewarding...obviously... We can't give the people what they want, that would be...awesome... Damn it bungie, be cool for loot...

            • That's a lot better than 1 key for 100 coins. I've literally never had 100 coins at a time. Surprised me when I first heard about people getting 100-200 a week because that meant I had more things going on in my life than them.

            • That new system is so awful. I'm currently farming for a good roll imago loop and omg it's frustrating. Lets just say it Takes 1h to drop a skeleton as you need something between 8 or 10 strikes if you're a good runner and if you have all the players playing cause god damn theres a lot of People afk these days. You're actually not sure to have the loot you're lookin for in the chrest because there's different possibilities. So lets just say it's 50-50 and you need two skeleton keys to have the gear you are lookin for. And then to have the roll you're lookin for everybody knows that if you're grinding for a specific good roll you need to drop the same weapon at least 100 times if you're a Lucky guardian. So you need to complete like 2000 strikes that's a ridiculous amount of hours grinding for something you're notre guareented to have. Year 2 strikes was enjoyable now they are boring af. I suggest that bungie needs to do something, what about restauring drop from bosses in Nightfall so people could grind like they were doing in year 2. I dont know why they needed to introduce theses keys and i assume that People that are liking that current are casual players and arent really lookin for a specific roll.

                • If Xur sold skeleton keys for strange coins, they'd have to make the ratio of the time it takes you to get a skeleton key drop from a strike be similar to the time it takes you to earn "x" amount of coins. I'd assume the price would be around 23-40. However I doubt they'll do this because they want strikes to still be something to do in destiny and buying skeleton keys would surpass the need to even grind strikes. It's all about da grind lol

                • Sorry, no disrespect intended, but you want to: Play several hours for 100 coins, then pay 100 coins for a key, then play 5-8 Strikes - I assume heroic Strikes. Instead of: Playing 5-8 Strikes which very likely drops a key - Heroic or not. BTW, burning the coins off on Keys, instead of on Three of Coins chances for an exotic. Yeah, I know the exotics are only good for infusing into good legionaries, but still... Practically, I think the idea that Bungie will change the Keys is zero to nothing. Our "friend" Cozmo was going to, "Take it to the developers," weeks and weeks ago, and [b]nothing at all[/b] has changed. they obviously told him, and us, to take a hike.

                      • The drop rate of skeleton keys is roughly the drop rate of strike specific loot before tge keys. Difference is now I can run strike playlist to farm keys then farm the strike I want for the chest at the end rather then the crappy kill boss kill myself method. Sure the old way is quicker but who cares. Key guarantees a drop from that strike.

                      • Took me three weeks to get to 400 light on all three of my characters anyway. With faction packages and iron banner, 400 light is easily obtainable quickly. 100 SC for a skeleton key seems fair to me.

                      • I'm cool with ole fish face selling them for an obscene price but ya know how you fix it so all those coin hoarding fools don't have easy street to max level...you only get to buy 3 (one for each toon) for that weekend and they're locked to that character that buys it.

                        • I think they could be sold for around 10-20 strange coins, and 5 strikes would make sense, with a certain amount of kills as well. I think that would add a little spice to the game. Bump.

                        • I think that instead of making skeleton keys random, you have to complete just 5 heroic strikes to get one. As soon as you finish your first strike, you get a bounty that says 1/5 heroic strike completions. Finishing the bounty will grant you some xp and a skeleton key. You would be able to do this as many times as you want.

                          • The whole reason they came up with this skeleton key system was to deter people from farming strikes. Which is pretty moronic imo. You want people to play your game but only the way you dictate. Farming strikes is not cheating but for some reason good ol' bungie decided to poop on that.

                          • I know the thread in which you're talking about and like I stated in that thread - just get rid of the keys altogether. IMHO - We've gone from getting the strike specific gear as a [b][u]bonus[/u][/b] for doing the strike to it's the only reason for doing the strikes.
