Just wondering what someone's definition of it is and what top percent in elo is considered it as well.
And also some advice how I or others can become amongst the elitists of tryhards?
Edit:
So far people defined it as being top 1% elo in a certain Playlist.
1.5kd+
Must have a Clever Dragon, Matador 64 and a red bar artifact.
Some believe the game takes no skill so there is no Top Tier we're all just chickens running around with no heads.
Others blame Sbmm, Latency, and Metas
I think a majority just needs to "Git Gud"
I might already qualify I dunno.
What is a top tier player? You cant say stats since they are numbers of your past games and not showing your current level. Stats show what you used to be, top tier player is someone who plays well consistently. Not the way that 2.5kd in one game 0.5 in the second one then 3.4 and after that 0.9 Consistency is a pretty good term. Stats might give a little direction because I have yet to meet a top tier player with a negative overall kd.

59 RepliesA person with PvP and PvE stats like mine. ~TheGreatNike

3 RepliesA person who thinks they are competitive pro players because they are good at a game with broken pvp and lag and when they go on other games that are truly competitive they get shit on and drink bleach because they realize they have 0 skill.

1 ReplyThere's no stat requirement.... Just someone who is a very good player and can use things other than JUST the meta. So yeah there's like 3 of those people left.

1 ReplyStep 1: Have a sweaty GT Step 2: Create a Warlock Step 3: Get a Matador ??? Profit.

Well, it depends on what your definition of "top tier" is. The problem I find in accurately determining someone's skill level (at least when it comes to Destiny), is that there is a ridiculous amount of variables that can easily make a "terrible" player into a "top tier" player. Many players run around with a shotgun on a shocklock the entire game, and they win very often, but if they for whatever reason attempt to use a primary of some sort, they consistently miss even the easiest of shots. Would you call this person, who maintains a 2+ K/D across all characters, but can only do good with a single set of weapons/perks, "top-tier?" Like most things, this topic is really a matter of perspective. My idea of a top-tier player might be astronomically more skilled than a new players idea of a top-tier player, simply because of the enormous difference in experience and play time with/against many opponents with varying degrees of skill. Honestly, I think that there are many "bad" players who do good, and many "good" players who do good, and the best you can do is just try to figure out where they stand in comparison to you, since that is all that really matters when directly engaging them. Now, if you were to ask me what my personal opinion is on the matter, then that's a different story. For me, top tier players are people who are good with a variety of loadouts, a variety of subclasses, and know different methods of applying them (keep in mind, this isn't referring to someone who cycles between everything in the game, but someone who has more than just one way of effectively playing the game). But it's also how they move. This probably sounds weird to a lot of people, but movement can tell you a lot about how good a player is and how aware they are. A lot of "top-tier" streamers (in this case I'm referring to people who are considered top-tier because they maintain high stats over extended periods of time and in "competitive" game modes like Trials of Osiris) that you can watch on twitch are very....clunky, almost robotic in their in-game movement. And not only in the way they move, but also in the way they aim. That's a huge difference between "top-tier" players and the players that easily wipe the floor with "top-tier" players, given the same situations. The best of the best are extremely fluid in their aiming and character movement, no matter what weapon(s) they are using or what situation they are in. In the end, it's really up to you what you think is "top-tier."
I wrote this whole thing on mobile, be gentle :3
Side note: I have recently developed a habit of watching people for the 10 seconds instead of re-spawning right away, and I've noticed that people who constantly slide around do significantly worse than people who only do so when the situation warrants it.

1 ReplyLook up SirDimetrious, that man can stomp in tourneys, not just trials.

10 RepliesYou don't qualify. Neither do I. In my opinion, a 2 kdr or higher is necessary.
-
1 ReplyTop Tier are those who are good and invest their time to help others get better. Just saying. I respect that.

1 Replywhen your dtr score, kills, kdr and win% are top 1%

Destiny is such a low skill game that top tier means absolutely nothing
-
A top tier player is someone who has a god roll clever dragon and matador and a red bar Destiny skill level is so difficult to determine due to constantly changing metas and p2p connections

11 RepliesEdited by albinomachina: 11/26/2016 8:38:02 PMYou're not considered "top tier" till you have made at least 100000000000 posts bitching about how much you hate SBMM. Because everyone knows, you're really only the best of the best if you demand to have the Crucible set up in a way that lets people with 2.50 k/d's play against people that have a .25 k/d. edit - I forgot, you must still live at home in your mommy's basement, have never touched a vagina since the day you were born, and can eat at least half your weight in hotpockets in one day. Hope that helps.

10 RepliesTop tier players on Destiny is kind of a joke :/ Let's be honest, it doesn't take much to be in the "Top Tier" due to the lack of a decent Skill Gap, balance and variables to measure skill. There's just a general group of good players, some labelled as "sweats" and the other "pubstompers". I would much rather people just play this game for fun because it's a casuals-oriented game, trying to misrepresent it as "competitive" didn't seem to change much.

The Tier 1 sweat people who play in 4v4 tourneys and all run Palindromes and Matadors
-
Top Tier have never used a 3rd party website to fap over their lag stats.
-
One who has to change his shirt after every match.
-
3 RepliesUse destinytracker.com to see your stats. It will tell you your percentage in ranking and actual position.

One of the players they keep sending me up against in Crucible. And since I'm nowhere near top-tier, well... you know those Youtube videos that have the Youtuber just slaughtering everything in his/her path? Yeah, that's what happens to me.
-
If you're not sure whether you're top tier then you're probably not It is not based on any sort of in-game skill, but is actually based on the size of the chip on their shoulder and the amount they whine on the forums
-
Someone who doesn't relies on overused weapons like the matador and clever dragon. And can grab any weapons and do well.
-
A top tier player is above the other tier players.

1 ReplyYou have to check their Credit history. If they have good credit then yes maybe they good.
