Shooters have gotten way too sweaty!

Halo 5 and Overwatch are prime examples of this. It's all made so competitive and its hard to just play to have fun. And when you do people call you a casual scrub who needs to get off the game. Same with Rainbow Six. Past Rainbow Six games were tactical without being so sweaty. Gears did the same too. I'm tired of everything being made from the ground up to be super competitive and on the edge of your seat. Destiny has done it too with SBMM. I'm tired of every match being so tense. You can't just jump in and have fun anymore. Bring back casual matchmaking. I miss when games were made to just have fun online. And if you went in with a full team or a certain playlist you could play sweats. Now it's everything.

  • Play csgo. 6 out of 15 games I play are with friendly ppl. Be prepared though. The rest are salty preteens.

    • Are you criticising people for wanting to be better than you?

    • You can thank the internet, twitch, youtube, and other like sites for that. Everyone wants to be MLG now. Granted don't get me wrong, there are some people that are just naturally competitive but the fact that there is even the slightest chance getting some sort of recognition or paycheck will suddenly have everyone "tryharding" for that shot.

    • Halo 3 is one of, if not, the most competitive game I've ever played and what do I do when a salty person gets in my way? Just t-bag. Most competitive shooters have followed what competitive Halo has created, so I don't see why not.

    • To be fair, that's sort of the same with all online competition. Ever since they added the arena in Dark Souls 3 I've seen nothing but 3 different copy/paste sweaty builds.

    • This is why I like PvE instead. Difficulty settings allow you to choose between casual or competitive. If only there was a way to allow players in PvP to choose whether they wanted to enter a ranked playlist with tryhards or an unranked playlist with casuals. If only that was possible. Too bad technology isn't that advanced.

      • Overwatch has arcade, and the most fun you have is using dumb strategies and trying to win but losing

        • They've been sweaty for ages and we all participated in it, like with household no oddjob. Now it's just being better supported.

        • Overwatch may have its competitive side but literally if you wave to people in quick play or do an emote, the enemy team will probably be nice back. I've had 17 minute sessions of us all just sharing our emotes and saying "hello." When you load up competitive it's sweaty as hell. Just today I made an enemy team member laugh their ass off. They were mercy and me and my friend were Solider 76 and D.va. We got her separated from her team and she tried to hide in a corner. She was ready to die but I walked up with my friend, we both said "hello" and she said hello back, and so we walked away. I got a message right after from the person saying that it was hilarious. But Destiny is filled with sweat. Especially trials. But since SBMM has been prominent, I can't even play a simple game of Control without a mercy rule happening.

        • This is why I play in the morning now, too many people treat games like Battlefront like CoD and jump around everywhere and just use the TL-50 and nothing else. It was fun before the jump pack infestation, now it's just filled with tryhards.

        • Halo 3 Social Slayer is a prime example of what I think you wish we had in new games today. It wasn't full of mlg 420 wallbangers, aka super sweaty tryhards. If you wanted that however, the Lone Wolves playlist was killer.

        • I'm not sure how to reply to this. You're complaining that in online PvP shooter games that it's not fun for you because in your opinion everyone is a try hard? That's a huge exaggeration my friend. Granted if you're in a competition no matter what kind it may be, your goal is to ultimately win. Some take it more seriously than others no doubt but to brand a whole genre as the extreme type is unrealistic. Not every online multiplayer title, shooter or non shooter is like this. Even if you've been stuck in a bad rut you can't claim the whole market is saturated. Plus if someone is abusing the messaging system to insult you in any hurtful fashion, all you have to do is hit that "report message" button to get them on Enforcement's Shit List. I should know since I got suspended by Microsoft for a whole damn week for telling random douches I dealt with to go f themselves. I did my time, and learned my lesson, been on good terms ever since. Also if you're getting stressed by competitive gaming then maybe it's not for you. Try single player or simply take a break for awhile cause playing while annoyed is only going to exacerbate your situation.

        • If you want to play a non-competitive game in Halo 5, just try anything other than a ranked playlist. Action sack, BTB, warzone

        • I'd rather play with and against sweaty try hards who know what they are doing, can play the game properly and give me a challenge, that's fun for me win or lose. Only thing bothering me about shooters atm are the idiots on bf1 who won't play the objective or perform their chosen class's role. Hopefully cod makes a decent game next year and all these retards can fcuk off.

        • I get Destiny, but the pvp in Destiny was never really fun to me to begin with. Overwatch; quickplay, arcade, and play vs. A.I. are all non competitive modes of play and the one mode that's meant to be competitive is blatantly labelled as such. Titanfall 2 I don't find to be as infuriatingly competitive as most shooters and unless I'm on the losing end of a complete rofl stomp, I have fun playing no matter what. I will also give you GoW4, the game's multiplayer seems built specifically around esports in mind with little consideration for casual players but there's always horde mode. Call of Duty I've personally given up on after Ghost. If you can't find a games multiplsyer fun it really just sounds like you've fallen out of the shooter multiplayer game set altogether.

        • It's not about winning or losing imo it's about personal performance. Did I play well? Did I use good tactics and map awareness? Some matches you're going to win and some lose its a game. PVP you're going against peeps that have been playing fps for years to decades. We all play pvp for the challenge and opportunity to reck our fellows. Games keep your mind and reflexes sharp. TV will turn you to mush just look at trump.

        • I'm sorry, Overwatch too competitive? In quick play all I get is a bunch of drooling sandal-headed mongoloids that couldn't even spell the word competitive. And in competitive, even at master-tier and above, It's about 50/50 chance my team actually wants to win. Also, if you don't want to be a called a casual scrub you have the option to turn off all forms of chat so it's like it never even happened.

Why do you care if you get called a casual scrub? I'll tell you what to do next time. Step 1: Enjoy the game and play for fun. Step 2: if you notice someone getting mad at you, T-bag like crazy when he looks at you. This normally makes that person even angrier because it shows you don't give a flying -blam!- Step 3: if you can, buy the voice line for Lucio that says "Why are you so angry?" And keep spamming that voice to make that person even more thick. Hope this helps it works for me :)))

          • Haven't really played Halo: 5, but Overwatch is supposed to be competitive. Hence the reason it has SBMM for Quick Play. Rainbow Six Siege is so tactical that it has to be competitive and with Destiny they want it to be competitive. I just got Titanfall 2 and it's pretty chill, but so fun.
