I've seen plenty of people gripe about a lack of callouts, excessive talking, etc. So as someone who is really interested in getting into raiding, what's a callout? What info is needed? What hints, tips, etc could you give someone new to raiding so that they won't be a burden or have to be carried? Is there specific etiquette for raids?
Feel free to separate it into specific raids. I'm interested in all of them personally.
Thought this would help those new to the game or raiding. I'm raring to get onto the wotm raid but don't want to be a liability.

After reading the comments people are generally giving you the right idea for callouts. Call outs can vary from fight to fight and the only I can offer is don't scream into your headset because it'll throw everyone off and the people you're raiding with won't like you very much. But it's also good to not repeat the same callout some is already doing. That's my two sense on it. Good luck in your WOTM raids.

A call out is a command or response that is meant to inform your teammates or organize them. Examples: "Who's empowered left?" This is a command used prompt dialogue over positioning. "(Gamertag) is empowered mid" Is a response that is used to inform how to organize your team for this encounter "Aksis is left" This is a info call out that is just meant to purely inform your team "Everyone go mid" This is purely to organize your team. These are the basics of call outs and the specific ones most raiders pick up on.

1 ReplyEdited by Corrick II: 11/25/2016 10:50:20 PMCallout: "left knight is down" "Tethering Golgoroth" "WoL bubble in the back" Not a callout: "I'm super good at this part, last night I was playing and I got like thirty kills during this phase but my mom came in and told me she made brownies but I already had them at school because my friends mom is an awesome cook and I really like this girl so I got her some too and then I asked her out but she was being totally stupid so whatever hey do you guys like Cheet-O's?

2 RepliesDuring key boss battles is typically when callouts happen, and that's when all other chatter should stop. It's what my old raid team called "Raid Chatter". It meant, stfu and only do callouts. During jumping puzzles and other downtime is when music can be played, general talking can go on, and stories about that one time can ensue. The common callouts
"Hidden Left." "Taking his shield down." "Need a cleanse." "Get in for cleanse." "It's mars, it's mars." "Weapons in the back." "And... Shoot Crota." "Switch left." "Wizard up top." "Left knight's down." "Right plate... middle... and left... go right with aura." "Last stack." "Bubble on bottom." "Taking gaze... got it. 4... 3... 2... 1... bail out." "I'm torn, I was plate 2." "I got it, go middle." "Got it, go top." "One up. Two up. Three up." "Got it go middle." "4th knight down." "Shoot oryx." "3 of coins." "Go to bombs... 3, 2, 1, inside your bombs." "3, 2, 1, throw." "Left screen." "DPS." "Back left, back left." "Tether adds." "Ok, jump on Zamboni." "Wait... shoot the ship." "Got the mines?" "Shoot the tank." "Warheads gonna drop, top of the ramp." "Void is right." "Turret mid, turret mid." "He's left... okay he's right." "Empowered left." "Right needs one." "Okay I'll move right." "Last bomb, Empowered ready?" "Left side." "Use the cannons." "Okay left pillar." "Last stand." "I'm down on left." "We need a bomber mid."
And all else is mostly bullshit. I don't really care what you got from the chest. I don't really care how many engrams are on your side. I don't care about your girlfriend or your dog. Save that stuff for the jumping puzzle or something.

Whenever siva charges drop, we call them tomatoes :)

Callouts " plate 1, plate 2, plate 3,etc." " open chest." Not callouts "Omg we are amazing, I can't believe how easy this is." " Why did Trevor breakup with me, I'm so made I could solo oryx"

Edited by EARWAK3R: 11/26/2016 1:32:17 PMCallouts are just when you call out important information relevant to the fight or checkpoint you're at. Any non essential information that has nothing to do with the fight or cp is not a call out, its just general chatter. Like at vosiks, theres 3 knights spawn every 3rd bomb throw. So right before that, somebody might call out "Knights are out next" to give people extra time to get ready and ammo up etc. Another guy might call out "get ready for monitors" and "monitor left, right, mid" etc There is also callouts for assigned role mechanics. Like if theres a fight that randomly chooses you to do something, you will call out to let your team know and plan ahead accordingly "Empowered left" "Im torn" "I got the blight, move away from me!" And of course you can call out if you need help "Need help with captain mid" Basically, call outs are a heads up on vital information. Or a call out for assistance so you dont die. If you see something happening in a fight that you think is important, call it out. Need help killing a captain? Call it out. Want to make people aware theres a mechanic we need to pay attention to up next, call it out! You just ate pizza for dinner..dont call it out! Lol

My most useless callout was during Aksis phase two and I was flung across the room by Aksis and died and I said "So It turns out, if you melee Aksis thirty five times. You don't get year three the last red Ice gjallarthorn mythochasm
-
I occassionally will say "get sworded bitch" on the final part of Crotas End. That's a lie.
-
Don't call out not empowered. That causes confusion. Only call out what your servitor is and area located. Don't call out I have this cannon or that captain is dead or whatever. Make sure everyone knows where the empowereds are or where they need to be
-
2 RepliesCallouts are needed for most parts of most raids. You will know which ones and when after playing the raids a bit more. Pro Tip for Aksis: 1. Call out Empowerment by side, every single time (3 call outs per round) 2. Call out when Aksis begins the teleport. 3. Call out where he teleports too. If you aren't empowered, then you should be calling out 2 and 3. This is vital for challenge mode. Unless you like to fail.

3 RepliesYou can't really have excessive callouts. You should definitely call out: -Fight specific events: (Aksis teleporting, Vosik rooms etc...) -When you need to stop fighting: (Low health, ammo count at 0.) -Synchronize certain events: (Vosik bomb throw) -When you need help: -When powerful adds spawn: (Vosik captains) You really won't be a liability if you do more callouts than necessary.

The less talking the better, most important thing to do is listen and play according to the information being stated. Been in teams where they wouldn't shut the -blam!- up about politics the entire time and finish just fine . been in teams where callouts were perfect but we just couldn't finish.
