Again the only long-term solution I have found is the following;
1) connect a wired router to my modem/router
2) setup the outbound connection out of that 2nd router as a different IP but more importantly a different subnet
3) setup one xbox one out of the modem/router and the other out of the 2nd router
*As an extra to get the best NAT setting possible with this ridiculous setup : port forwarding rules from my modem/router to the 2nd router
Again all this is required for Destiny only, we play other games without any hassles : Diablo3, Elder Scrolls Online, Warframe.
Thanks for the worst customer experience ever Bungie.
Hopefully if some of you have old routers collecting dust you can use this "solution"

Hey mate I have a technicolor tg799vac modem/router and a spare basic 4 port router, I think it's Belkin but still can't join fireteams how to you change subnets and all that technical stuff to make local networking work for destiny?

Before you get into that there are two things you need to confirm: 1) you're sure that's a router and not a switch/hub ? Hub won't work in this case, just want to be sure. 2)you've plugged one xbox to your modem and the other on the router right? The goal is to provide both units with different IP addresses so you have to make sure they are plugged into different sources

Yeah definitely a router and xbone 1 is on modem/router and Xbone 2 is on seperate router

Ok sorry for asking but I just wanted to be sure =) So you should have an IP address to access your router's configurations, you'll need to hook it up to a PC or laptop to fiddle around with it. On my router the option was listed as outbound dmz address (something like that). I could basically type in the outbound IP (subnet) I wanted to get thus insuring that both were separate.
