I noticed how encountering enemies gets boring once you have the required light. You just slaughter every enemy once you're a higher light than them and that shouldn't be.
So I thought maybe you shouldn't be able to just raise numbers by pure light. I want to be better than the enemy cause I have an advantage through skills .
Creating collectable skills is a way to diversify and make the game more challenging for example can unique things be implemented that really bring out your play style. Imagine a collectable Rare skill allowing only the people that found and wear it to walljump or wall run! That'd have a huge impact on play style and the need to just deal more damage dissappears because I can just dodge faster or seek cover.
Destiny is not mainly but wants to be a Roleplaying game so for that purpose you can make everyone unique giving them Interesting things to collect and be genuinely happy about keeping your promise of creating things you'll want to get and keep your hands on.
And taking it one step further a gun doesn't have to be powerful to make a player want it. If it can be tweaked and customised into a weapon that is unique and really suits us and our play style we'll keep it. If it then levels with us in an rpg kind of way (by raising base stats) it'll be like a friend we don't want to give away.
