SBMM would obviously dictate the teams in something like a 1-50 ranking system in the Ranked playlist and Full on CBMM in the Unranked playlist section. Level 1-10 play level 1-10, level 11-20 player level 11-20 and on and on.
This kills two birds with one stone. Competitive players get their hard foughts matches while laid back players get their connection based matches, but it doesnt stop there.......
What made Halo 2 and Halo 3 Multiplayer, Bungies crown achievments, so damn addicting? It was the 1-50 ranking system. Its like crack trying to raise your rank. And once you get to 50 its such a gratifying feeling
Most of you are probably too young to have expierenced the great fun it was in halos 2 and 3 trying to rank up but just trust me it was great.
As it is right now I really dont even care if I win or lose that much. Honestly I care more about that matador or Eysaluna that drops 1 out of every 436 matches. If there was ranks I would try every game. This also makes people actually.........play the objective because they have incentives to win. So really that one stone ends up killing 3 maybe even 4 birds.
Destiny is one of the only games that doesnt have any ranks in their PVP game modes. I see no downsides to a ranking system. And if there is a downside theres no way it trumps the many upsides

We don't need CBMM. We need dedicated servers with SBMM.

28 RepliesWhat we have now is an invisible ranked system. But it is not a crude win lose rank. It takes your whole performance into effect. It matches you into games with similar skilled players with the best connection possible. I do like the idea behind a pvp rank number on your emblem. The same should be for pve. In year 1 it was light level. Year 2 was grimoire score. It would let players see who they are matched up with in crucible, strikes, and raids. The problem will still be that the top 1-10% will be playing against themselves. They don't want to play against themselves. They want easy wins and a relaxed game. The mass of casuals don't want to get pubstomped.

14 RepliesThe downside is its another dumb number for us to keep up with.

2 RepliesIt sounds like a version of the current system, but everyone can see your ranking. At least the elite have a number they can point to so they can show they are good instead of just a kd It will be a bit of a shock for players going up though. When you go from 21 (playing people from ranks 21 to 30) to rank 20 (playing people from ranks 11 to 20) Are ranks split to keep the same number of players in each (each rank represents 2% of the player base) or based on arbitrary levels?

9 RepliesWhy would you want to kill birds???

This is exactly why I used to like playing classic playlist, regular playlist was basically ranked and classic was a more chilled playlist, although even classic is dead now.
-
3 RepliesOr a seperate Competitve MM playlist with different rankings based on skill level like Overwatch, CS:GO, or even Call of Duty.
-
2 RepliesWe kind of already have that with faction/Crucible ranks. It'd be nice if they were visible to other players, though.

I don't know, but it would be nice to have some sort of way to know how good you really are,for sure. I don't understand all the destinytracker info.Too complicated.

5 RepliesIf they are to add a skill it should be 1-100 not 1-50.
