Has anyone noticed that exotics don't feel 'exotic' anymore?
Having played destiny pretty much since launch and put 900 hours into it. Pretty high since I am pretty much only allowed it on the weekends and holidays. I feel that although year 1 had some serious balance problems and activities and story were poorly designed, bungie did an amazing job of creating excitement every time you got a legendary or exotic, my first exotic was plan C and my second was ice breaker. And I exclusively used them, I got suros regime and still used it when it was terrible. The reason, exotics felt special. I don't think it should be one or two weapons that everyone uses and nothing else, (having variety is essential for a game) but I feel it should be the case where you always want to have one exotic weapon and one exotic armour at all times. Not the same one but there shouldn't be the case where a good roll for a legendary will be better than an exotic. The solution could be to buff all exotics or I could be something else. I'm not here to spoon-feed bungie exactly how to make their game but I do feel that exotics need to feel special again. Comment if you share my views or if you don't then send some creative criticism, I'll take into account all of it. And bungie, I hope you are listening.

Yeah, I've been on destiny since Dark Below. Exotics need to be the best of the best because only one exotic weapon and armor piece can be equipped at a time. Newer players have an expectation to be fulfilled when a rule like this is in place.

3 RepliesPower creep. With exotics having their perks and rolls all set in stone, it opens the path for plenty of other weapons to out perform them. My Ill Will for example has been out performing my Hawkmoon.

I agree, it seems that Bungie's lesson from y1 is that going forward exotics should only have a minor use and not be better (or equal you'd at least expect) legendaries. That guardians shouldn't have to consider using exotics outside of their intended, single use. To not be better than legendaries and give guardians no reason to use them. And this is even though we are limited to a single, less capable exotic. Yeah, there are good exotics, but they are greatly outnumbered vs the rest.

As soon as gamers realize this the better off they will be and realize exotics will never become exotics ever again. I don't agree with it but you can't fight the idiot Luke smith that has killed the concept of this game because of his incompetence. Now if like used his brain the entire y1 would have been nerfed and made obsolete. Gamming companies have a balancing team for some reason. You don't remove an entire Arsenal because you have no idea what to do with them. You find someone that does have knowledge in a game like this that can adjust weapons etc to fit the environment. Wow! What a concept.

I agree with a lot of folks, they used to feel exotic and a few still do but a lot have been replaced by legendaries with nothing new added to the exotic loot pool.

In a pulse rifle meta I thinks it's odd that I haven't seen one single exotic pulse rifle in months. Not sure if any this year

Agreed, my first exotic was Suros and it felt amazing. Even after the buff, it handled beautifully and just dominated. Same with my Icebreaker, Super Good Advice, invective, etc. But now I've chosen to abandon exotics as then don't seem to give me an edge at all. I'm not expecting for exotics to become game changers hat could dominate a pvp match or end a raid in seconds. But, for example, using a rare weapon vs a legendary weapon DOES feel different. Using a legendary vs. an exotic doesn't feel that much different and in fact, sometimes it feels worse. It also has to do with the fact that exotics were truly exotic back then. Getting one was hard. I remember when I finally got Gally and used it on Atheon for the first time. It felt empowering and just seemed to rip him a new one. It was an amazing feeling! But now that we've all got one, it almost feels dull. I still use mine out of melancholy and it's still sorta decent. But it's replaceable.

If it's a primary it's a piece. All primary's should be buffed. Do you see every person in crucible uses the 2nd first that because there primary sucks wind. This is stupid. Bungie needs to pull there head out of there back side & listen to the people that play the game. I don't think that will happen till they feel the pain. The pain is people leaving Destiny & Bungie people losing there jobs. Hope they figure it out before that but I'm not so sure they will.
