I'll add another case of the Student of History Achievement not unlocking even after following the said steps in the linked Help article.
I have the accomplishment unlocked in the RoI book and have the emblem.
It's definitely not an issue with my achievement list not updating / refreshing since I've unlocked a good number of achievements from other games since I completed the requirements for this particular achievement.

Curious as to where this currently stands...
While I did have this on my Hunter - I've since completed the Year 3 quest and that alone removed the waypoint from my Hunter.
My Warlock on the other hand is a different story. Funny part is that I never did the Year 1 quest on this character, but yet I have this mysterious waypoint over the Tower..
Haven't even tried my Titan since I really don't play that character anymore and so I'm not bothered to check.
Can we also get an update on the missing Girmoire Cards as well as hearing what you're doing in having different scores across different characters.

And im equipped properly but they are not counting towards my quest. Gets aggravating

Not sure I follow what you're saying. Running Heroic strikes has nothing to do with the Year 3 Thorn. The only strikes that are required for that quest Wretched Eye Strike at the beginning and Abomination Heist at the very end. If that's true - then the following item from the known issues from this very topic thread is the reason [quote][b][u]Exotic Faction Class Items[/u][/b] As noted below in the 2.4.0 Known Issues List, respawn animations granted by Exotic Faction Class Items are not functioning properly. [u][b]Additionally, we are aware that many Faction Class Items are not able to progress Exotic Faction Quests.
