Why don't people use the First Curse in PvP more often?

I remember in Year One, The Salt from the Tears of the Many laid to waste by the power of the Last Word, was superfluous enough to fill the biggest crater on the Moon. And now, it seems that Karma has returned in the form of it's sister, The First Curse. Really. This thing shreds hard. Everyone's using the Clever Dragon now, which is cool. But, if you are proficient with Hand Cannons and are quick on the fly, give that thing a try. I have used it for the last number of Banner Matches. And it gave me the chills that The Last Word used to. Note: I'm surprised that this many comments have appeared. Some are thought driven. Others sound like salt or some sort of bad rhetoric about the opponents or whatnot.(noticeably made by those with a shotgun as their primary)
Nerf Fusion Rifles
• First Curse is awesome in PvE and solid in PvP. In short, to answer your question...
most can't aim and First Curse only rewards good hand cannon users. If you're good, the gun can be awesome
Probably the reason many players don't use it, apart from it's unforgiving quest-line, is the nature of the gun itself; archetype as well. It leans heavily on a players ability to pace themselves and restrict how and when they engage other players, which is something that may clash with many who want to just go into every fight without worry. It's basically a hand-cannon specifically made for the people who like hand-cannons but also want to have a slightly slower, more calm pace. It rewards players that are careful in how they fight, that is where it's strength lies. In short, it exemplifies everything that a good high-impact hand cannon should be like and not very many people may be a fan of that archetype. Simple as that. Long range and a slow-pace isn't very popular right now and especially on a hand-cannon. [edit]: It's currently my #1 favourite exotic primary in the game specifically for its design and feel with how it functions. Extremely satisfying to use while also very unforgiving. I love that. High-risk, High-reward.

            • The highest impact handcannon archetype is pretty bad right now, easily outclasses by the eyasluna/palindrome archetype.

              • It's the TTK. Against the majority of players, it's time to kill is one of the slowest in the game on primary weapons in both the optimal and maximum shots to kill. It does FEEL good to use though. High damage per shot, really high range, great stability when perks are active, REALLY high aim assist, and massive ammo reserve on top of perks that make it more ammo efficient then normal. But it's slow to kill is what's... well killing it's popularity. The weapon is trapped in an archetype that is just not competitive at the moment. A sure fix would be to increase the damage to ensure two tap kill on double critical. However that alone would make it overpowered, so lowering the rate of fire would also be necessary. I used to use it frequently in PvE because of it's stupid high damage and that it's great with ammo. But recently I've gotten a Lingering Song with Hammer Forged, Triple Tap and High Calibur rounds... so I haven't touched it since. Was kind of hoping for one with explosive rounds and rifle barrel.. but beggers can't be choosers.

                • Because just like with pulse rifles all hand cannons are three head shots to kill. Making slow firing ones quite a bit worse than faster firing ones.

                      • Not really a point to use it. Stuff like the palindrome or eyasluna are gonna kill in the same amount of shots, as well as shoot quicker. Not to mention they can have superior range and stability.

                      • The reason is that middle impact hand cannons kill in the same shots and have a faster fire rate. It's good, but not optimal.

Because it's super unforgiving and typically leads to automatic deaths if you miss with it while engaging any decent player with a meta weapon, let alone fast-firing pulse rifles with high caliber rounds. Not to say that The First Curse is bad. It's actually quite decent - IF and ONLY IF you are extremely disciplined with your aim and you're more cautious about engaging players with meta weapons head-on. It demands a more reserved, careful playstyle that, let's be real, many players don't seem to find particularly satisfying. That's why you don't see it more often.

                          • The ttk is too long but with that being said, it's my favorite handcannon and one of my top 5 exotics to use
and I hate handcannons
• First Curse is a great hand cannon, but since I like to pair my hand cannons with a sniper rifle, there's no real point for me to have a long range hand cannon.
