Edited by zero_hour-9am: 11/11/2016 12:23:40 PMI was in the camp that was angry that there was so much confusion over the packages/questline and the way it was ineffectively communicated to us.BUT!! after reading the latest this week at bungie, it feels obvious that bungie has recognised the problems we raised and held its hands up and apologised for the confusion, I'm tipping my hat to that and saying thanks! the explanation given on the changes to Iron banner, was both clear and considered (IMHO) and showed they have put a lot of thought into making the rewards for playing more easily, equally and! more consistently available to everyone playing the event, I didnt't buy into the argument that not ranking up takes away the reason to grind, Its raining really good loot like it rains during a british summer! XD what better reason is there to grind? :) sidenote, I hope that Bungie continues to use its this week at report and any other ways they can.. to more effectively communicate changes, and the decision process behind those changes.

I'll leave this here. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/217769201/0/0/1

10 RepliesThe problem for me in relying on the bounties is one actually has to get KILLS to complete them, and that's not in the cards for me. I swear a monkey with a head injury could be more effective and dangerous than I am in PvP. Literally the worst player to pick up a controller, not sure why I still try. My favorite moment last night? The rage quit after I finally got heavy ammo (first time in probably 20-30 matches; I always get caught by surprise by the announcement and I can never find the spawns in time since I'm too dumb to learn the maps) and chased but failed to catch 2 different enemies until a guy gunned me down with a pulse rifle right before I got to swing it at him. Felt great, lemme tell ya.

5 RepliesEdited by TRDoug: 11/10/2016 12:08:54 AMThe quests were for the Supremecy game mode. Bungie seriously took a dump on this one......I guess they figured two weapons and armor pieces from the bounties was enough. I was really hoping for those quests in a control theme. It's no surprise though, bungie finds new and better ways to limit our progression and increase the grind. Kudos to them on that. HOWEVER.....Since there's no longer any point in reaching rank 5 I'll be cashing in my four bounties and saying adieu to getting wins in the iron banner probably by the end of tonight this week, then I'll just jump around waiting for end of match rewards!!!

1 ReplyI think the bounties are what drop items for you now, so you get them sooner without the need for getting sweaty trying to rank up. Bungie actually managed to emphasize tangible fun with this one, because literally anyone can finish a bounty. Unless it's in ToO. Some people can't do that I guess.
-
Just do them bounties
-
Yeah what the hell. Iron banner is almost a waste of time.
-
Here you go guys here why it's shit but yeah :( https://youtu.be/FkkV6nCxDgQ

Wouldn't be so bad if I actually got a primary drop instead of the -blam!-ing machine gun!

I don't really think you need rewards at rank 3 and 5, by finishing the bounties you get both 2 pieces or armor and 2 weapons. That coupled with the better drop rate post match means more gear overall. So I'm happy with the changes. And the stuff from the bounties is better than the random blue artifact or ghost from rank 3.

Can we also question the lackluster cutscene that introduces efrideet its actually more cringe worthy than the stranger line 'no time to explain'

17 Repliesthen what is the need for erfreet? she doesnt do anything all her guns and armor drops anyway

Turns out the hurricane that knocked out my power during the last Iron Banner was a blessing in disguise. I reached rank 3 and 4 on all of my characters before I lost power, therefore never completed the quest. I received rewards at rank 3 and will again at rank 5. During the first IB I was only 370 ish, which would have given me so so rewards. I started this IB at 399, ensuring me 400 drops across the board. Love it.

Edited by Reefkeeper135: 11/9/2016 7:17:45 PMThey made it easier to get guaranteed rewards, just finish the bounties. I got the hand cannon and pulse rifle with very good rolls and a 391 and 393 helmet. Nothing to complain about. Makes it less of a grind, I will hit rank 5 with one character just so I can pick up the vendor roll Pulse rifle then just complete the bounties on my other 2 characters for guaranteed drops. Win / Win

3 RepliesWhy does it matter? You get better drops from 4 bounties which garentee 2 weapons & 2 armour at significantly higher light than you have(e.g I was 393 getting no lower that 397) the IB itself gives so much loot anyway. Who wants a 365 blue artifact @3 & maybe a gun & 350 ghost @5. Stop complainimg because for once in this games existance they gave us more that they took away. Winning & losing doesnt even matter anymore so whats the big deal just go out there without your sweaty loadouts & have a bit of fun. Put on your chaperone or NLB & just have a mess around for rewards it doesnt always have to 6v6 trials of osiris every -blam!-ing game. Chill the -blam!- out & use some different weapons you bunch of moaning -blam!-s.

Edited by blade329: 11/9/2016 6:36:00 PMThey aren't needed. Bounties give you guaranteed rewards, plus the drop rates for each match seem to be pretty good. I got a ton of stuff last night. Rank 5 is still needed to buy that really good Clever Dragon at the Iron Banner vendor. So, it's still a very good event. It's helping me level up, since IB drops up to 400 light lvl gear.

12 RepliesRemoving them was just utter stupidity, which is pretty much what we expect from Bungie, isn't it? I mean, they give us these shiny new packages for over a year, get us all used to them as something worth the grind to rank 3 and 5, and then take them away... but only AFTER giving us a quest in the previous Iron Banner that got us all thinking this was the new way of getting our rank 3 and 5 rewards? What are they thinking? Ah, I get it, as usual, they WEREN'T thinking. Essentially, we have no real reason to play beyond doing the four weekly bounties, which are achievable in around 10-15 matches. Way to ruin Iron Banner, Bungo. Good going. Bunch of idiots.
-
Not surprised. All quests are one time only except the new plaguelands ones. Do you mean there are no packages now or no extra packages
-
People seem to forget that rewards are now intrinsic to your weekly bounties. Reaching rank 5 after completing the quest is unnecessary unless you want to purchase something from the vendor.
-
It's actually better now with more chances to get loot. I scored a ton of stuff last night, but no Clever Dragon.
-
Edited by StrictlyTy: 11/8/2016 11:09:57 PMConsidering how often legendaries drop, they probably didn't feel the need to include the packages any longer. Not to mention you have 4 bounties now that give you weapons and gear.
-
4 RepliesIt's honestly better now. At least you are guaranteed weapons and armour. Sometimes o got screwed on the rank packages. So far I have had a mental Clever dragon and an unbent tree.
-
Bit of a letdown, but you can rank up fast
-
12 RepliesSo you get 1 character to rank 5 so you can buy the vendor God rolls. Complete the bounties on your other 2... which will get you to rank 5 anyway. 4 drops from bounties per character plus end game drops. You get a lot more loot this way and you still have time to complete all of the other weekly activities. So contrary to what most of you are saying - removing rank packaged was a great idea. No trips back and forth to prevent losing packages. Rank 3 was a blue artifact at lower light than you were anyway. Great job Bungie. An announcement earlier would have been nice but still a great idea nonetheless.
