Topic, the captains are really annoying because they don't stagger when I sword them, so they end up spamming their cannon. Tips to kill them without getting shot?

You and a teammate drop a gally rocket and then a few primary shots....DONE.
-
"When you see em shoot em?"
-
Dark drinker, Sleeper Simulant, Gally or even a beefed shotgun in a clutch. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help from your sides partner. If the captain doesn't go down, your team will. If you're with a hunter have them use their invisibility nade on you and bum rush. I've found dark drinker works amazing on my warlock, but I do have rez just in case.

The absolute, #1 failing of every damn player I have seen die to a Captain is that they don't clear adds. Simple as that. They go running in all Leroy like and wonder why they are dying... Clear ALL adds, then worry about the Captain. He is a non-issue if adds are completely cleared.

Edited by theraggededge1: 11/3/2016 9:23:04 PMThat is the one time I run striker. I just roll up on him and slam his ass. Dead in one hit or with aftershock. If you're dead set on using your sword, make sure your partner follows you up with a shotgun. He will agro back and forth between both of you and give you the chance to finish him fast.

Just make sure you kill all the shanks before you engage the captain. He is usually behind one of those 2 boxes by the doorway, run and slide up the stairs and uppercut him the the razelighter if that's what you are using. Also yeah use your smoke grenade, the invisible perk or poison perk. I prefer poison as it damages him and disorientes him plus its useful for when all the shanks come out above Askis after the tether wears off. Best of luck to you.

Hunter with vanish in smoke for you or envenomed for the captain are amazing choices for me.
The luckiest seven you will ever meet
It shouldn't be an issue unless you just run at them in a straight line. You're a hunter use invisibility or just get good and use the ample cover provided to dodge cannon shots.

13 RepliesDon't use a sword. Seriously swords aren't that great in this raid. Best dps weapon be damned. 1. Can't do any dps if you die from the captain 2.cant do any damage if your empowered until 3rd phase. 3. Have you ever actually not killed Aksis in 5 damage phases? I've never seen nor heard of people not being able to kill him before they are out of pillars. Rockets take away all danger from getting killed by the captain that can freaking 2 hit you even when your max light. If you don't have a rocket use a super/nades Tether/hammers/fusion nades from sunsinger all get him down or low enough to kill him with a primary or 1-2 hits from a sniper.

2 RepliesHow to kill a captain... 1) equip sword (raze or drinker) 2) sprint to captain 3) use sword I use raze on phase 1 (jus cause raze is me fav) I use drinker on phase 2 (for aksis dps) note: I'm not sure how ppl are dying? If using sword RT attack, captains die quick! good luck guardian!

Stolen will has always worked perfectly for me.

Edited by Swiftlock: 11/3/2016 2:44:29 PMRaze-Lighter. Dark Drinker. Sleeper Simulant. Gjallarhorn. Any remotely decent legendary rocket launcher. Nova Bomb. Golden Gun (+ Celestial Nighthawk). Hammer of Sol. Etc, etc.
-
A celestial nighthawk shot usually does the trick for me...
-
Edited by Quaddity: 11/3/2016 2:23:54 PMMy Raze Lighter uppercut pretty much one hits them on the normal raid.
-
Solar grenades work great, anything that will add extra dps, use your super whatever, I was even using boltcaster and that worked...big tip is to make sure all shanks are down, good luck
-
Dark drinker=problem solved. Captains have never caused me an issue
-
You can stagger them with Hunter's Venom, Warlock solar grenades or Landfall using stormcaller, Titan magnetic grenades. Also, I noticed if you slide into them with using either Raze-Lighter or Dark-Drinker...they miss you with their cannon and then you can R2 them. Once you are right next to them, they try to melee you.
-
Only part of the raid I've done besides the opening was Aksis Phase one. I used Raze Lighter and I was a Celestial Nighthawk Gunslinger.
People had to leave to eat and it just fell apart while we waited. Everyone else left before 2 guys came back.. very annoying as I really want Chaos Dogma.
Didn't see the issue killing captains at any point lol
-
Sword. Raze or Drinker. I 1 shot them.
-
Dark drinker. The end
-
My hammers do just fine so does dark drinker
-
Dark Drinker is Bae for dealing with Captains IMO.
-
3 RepliesRaze Lighter stuns him, special attack and one swipe works a treat, can't say I've ever been downed by a Captain on Aksis. Although middle area is a little more challenging to get close to him so a couple of Gjallys to the face should suffice.
-
Edited by PapaSubpar: 11/3/2016 1:19:23 PMUse your R2 (strong attack) It should take no more than 2. To avoid cannon shots, just strafe back and forth as you approach him, cannon shots don't track
-
How does your sword not stagger him? Mine is either a one swipe or possibly 2 and it's never a problem.
-
Use your super on him and trust your teammates to activate the supercharge mechanic before the 3rd slam during dps phase or pick up their orbs from their supers as you're throwing or running cannons killing servitors.
