Now play 1-3. You must play on legendary, if only for Johnson dialogues.
After that, play ODST, and be sure to get all the audio logs.
4 and 5 were OK, not as good as 1-3 and the two spin-offs, though. This could be due to different devs, but I blame a lack of Johnson.

Agreed. They should've atleast tried to make a character like Johnson, Palmer doesn't count btw.

A few friendly warnings. For CE: Don't ever get rid of the pistol. For 2: immediately get rid of the pistol. Also, the jackal snipers [b]will[/b] kill you. For 3: pistol still sucks. Always use your equipment. For ODST: there's a map of all the audio logs available online. Use it, and listen closely because their story is quite gripping. Also, keep this pistol. Still not as great as the original, but it has decent accuracy and the suppressor makes it extremely badass.

Pistol is GOD! Pistol is meh. Still meh. Pistol got better, not god tier.

Pretty much. CE was by far the best, then two was the worst, and since then it's been getting better each game (although it's kind of hard to compare the ODST pistol due to a lack of multiplayer.) In general, you want plasma against shields, precision against unshielded covenant, and close range/automatics against the flood.
