This is a start to a Potential Huge Issue that hasn't been addressed and if so, hasn't been enforced enough.
DDosing has been a huge trend in Trials and needs to be stopped. The problem is, its very easy to do with no limit.
With this game being on a Peer-to-Peer connection, it is very easy to obtain people's I.P addresses. From there, people spam those addresses with data until they get disconnected.
The Solution would be to have dedicated servers. However, it may take too long, and a great possibility that they'll be in Destiny 2.
To be exact on what DDosing is:
"DDoS is short for Distributed Denial of Service.
DDoS is a type of DOS attack where multiple compromised systems, which are often infected with a Trojan, are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. Victims of a DDoS attack consist of both the end targeted system and all systems maliciously used and controlled by the hacker in the distributed attack.
According to eSecurityPlanet.com, in a DDoS attack, the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources – potentially hundreds of thousands or more. This effectively makes it impossible to stop the attack simply by blocking a single IP address; plus, it is very difficult to distinguish legitimate user traffic from attack traffic when spread across so many points of origin.
A Denial of Service (DoS) attack is different from a DDoS attack. The DoS attack typically uses one computer and one Internet connection to flood a targeted system or resource. The DDoS attack uses multiple computers and Internet connections to flood the targeted resource. DDoS attacks are often global attacks, distributed via botnets."

The solution would be restrictions and bans to those people. But that won't stop more people from doing it. The solution would be to stop it at its source but if that's not possible, then we need Dedicated Servers. That way, it can be strong enough to not be breached by DoS/DDos attacks.
I know we ask this a lot Bungie, but 2017 is coming. Technology is advancing, internet is getting faster and more expensive for some providers. You can't always blame us for disconnects that happen when it isn't out Internet Provider's fault. That is why I ask for you to possibly establish Deddicated Servers and if not, then please have them for Destiny 2 or any other Bungie Product you make that requires online permission.
TL:DR
-People are paying for DDos Trials
-We need Dedicated Servers.
-DDos is when someone "uses one computer and one Internet connection to flood a targeted system or resource. The DDoS attack uses multiple computers and Internet connections to flood the targeted resource."
-You can get in a lot of trouble with FBI.
-If you have to DDos to go flawless, then you have no pride and need to get good. I'm tired of losers like you. ESPECIALLY if you have to ask for other people to pay you.

86 RepliesIt is also a federal felony. For those who don't know. "Felony" is the bad kind of crime that means you go to prison and the only pvp you'll be playing is rift with the soap in the shower. It is troubling that Bungie is not only allowing criminal behavior but actively encouraging it. Seriously bungie. Call your lawyers. Your exposure on this is huge and I'm not exaggerating when I say people on your own team could potentially be implicated. Especially with your efforts to ban people for identifying criminals by name. It could be defined as conspiracy to conceal criminal acts which makes you accessory after the fact. Accessory after the fact is defined as: Someone (bugnie) who assists another (the ddos user) 1) who has committed a felony (ddos attack), 2) after the person has committed the felony (or in your case, before, because you're allowing people to post adds for it on your forums), 3) with knowledge that the person committed the felony (which you have been provided by players and your network statistics, and you have been further provided knowledge that this IS a felony by this and other posts), and 4) with the intent to help the person avoid arrest or punishment (by intimidating people who would report the crime into silence). An accessory after the fact may be held liable for, inter alia, obstruction of justice. It isn't enough to just hit people with the ban hammer. If you know it's going on, you have to actually do something. If you know criminal behavior is ongoing you have to report it. This is further complicated by the fact that you are "accessory" because of personal profit which does indicate conspiracy because you are failing to report criminal activity to the appropriate authorities for fear of losing players, ie profit. This. Is. A. Problem. I again advise you to contact your legal department and discuss your exposure. You may find it to be a lot greater than you think.
