Anyone who tries to explain it away as harmless optional content is wrong.
They don't put microtransactions in the game as 'truly' optional. They're designed to be manipulative. They're designed to make you feel like you're missing out on something. They're designed to make you feel jealous when you see other people with cool new gear that's weighted towards paying. That's directly impacting the experience of the person who wants to play the game they paid $100s of dollars for.
I don't mind this kind of junk in free to play games, and I don't mind microtransactions in games where the DLC is free. But seeing it in full price, paid games is gross. Do you want to pay $100s for a game, only to feel like you're not getting a full experience? Nope. It's Bungie trying to have it every way they can.

Totally agree. If there was a way to earn more of the treasures past the 1 free per character maybe it would be better. Then paying for them would just count as a shortcut for the players who want everything sooner. That's kind of how the other treasure boxes in the game work. But literally locking content behind a paywall with really low drop rates and calling it an event (which is supposedly being funded by previous microtransactions) clearly doesn't sit well with a lot of fans.

Most idiots here don't see it, you're wasting your time. "Microtransactions pay for the live team to come up with more events". Yip. More events where selling silver is the priority. I'm sure plenty of people will want to argue their point, go ahead, I won't be reading it or replying to it. You're welcome.

Im guessing you're a farmer? Because judging by this post you dont go to the grocery store.

Lol I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Edited by Hiro: 10/28/2016 11:58:55 AMBump, these micro transactions are obviously designed to push people into a gambling like habit where you want to spend more and more money on these rng packages until you get that cool cosmetic item that you would be missing out on if you didn't have it like that guy you saw in the tower.

I didn't buy anything but I'm still enjoying the full content. I don't know what in the hell you're talking about.
-
You can still enjoy the game without the stuff sure, but I bet you'd enjoy it more with the cool extras.

Here's the thing I'm scared of. Take GTA5. Here you have a game made by a company that has made some astonishing single player experiences and single player DLC. When GTA5 was released we were told there would be single player DLC after the release of GTA Online. Now, here it is god knows how many years later and we still havnt gotten jack for content, and probably won't, because of how much money Rockstar pulls from their microtransactions. I really worry that people throwing over 200 dollars at a screen for a freaking blue fire mask that isn't even infusable are going to convince Bungie it's more profitable to do like you said.
-
And at that point you can't even be mad at Bungie. A business' goal is to make profit, and why wouldn't a company go where the money is?
-
I'm not gonna read anymore on this post. That has to be the best thought out comment I've read about this bullshit*t event. You're 100% right. Bungie needs to stop these fúcking microtransactions

Thanks, mate.
