Party Privacy not working on Xbox One S

I followed the instructions: From the Roster Section, select the icon at the top of your Fireteam roster. This will open the Snap Party App on the side of your screen. From this menu, players are able to create and invite people to their party, as well as view their friends, messages, and notifications. Once a party has been created, players toggle their party privacy settings between "Invite Only" and "Joinable". However I still get others joining that are not in my party. All these level 40 guys come in my level 2 board and go run off and kill everything and ruin the experience of playing ( for the FIRST TIME ). I don't mind help if they actually help ... but it seems that more they just make the enemies MUCH harder and I die instantly when hit one time. Is this a bug? My Xbox One S is brand new and fully "updated". So is the Destiny (just downloaded a day or two ago). Thanks !!

  • For Xbox one, the button on the Roster tab has always lead to the 'snap party app'. Previous to the xb1 NXE dashboard, there was a way to set game privacy to "require invites" through the My Profile section, but that option was removed about a year ago when we got the current dashboard layout. I haven't found a way to set game privacy other than appearing offline.

    • Don't confuse in-game fireteam privacy settings with party chat privacy settings, those are 2 separate things. Looking at this article? https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12186 This instructions for Xbox one is probably not working or is wrong. It appears to be talking about party chat, but not the fireteam in the game. Changing party chat privacy does not change in-game fireteam privacy. For PS4 Destiny, the fireteam privacy button in roster is now bigger that says "Fireteam: Friends only" which is hard to miss and can be changed. I am not sure if the same is true for xbox one version of Destiny.

    • Unfortunately the party privacy setting has no impact over your in game roster. Friends will be able to join your activities regardless of this setting, as long as there is room in your game. You can however, remove anyone from your firearm by inspecting them from the roster tab. You should also note that some parts of almost every story mission overlap with the Patrol area of each planet. Unless you're in a "Darkness Zone" you're not guaranteed to be alone. These players don't affect the light level or damage of your enemies.
