Please like, if you paid zero silver to this date.

Never buying silver or any other ingame 'currency'. People who buy that shit are creating an environment for greedy asshats who want us to throw money at the screen. Clarification: I don't mind adults spending their money on things. If Bungie sells something for a fixed price and people are stupid enough to shell out money, so be it. I still find that questionable, because this one thing is awfully expensive compared to the cost of a whole game. What I find criminal is to hide the real cost of things behind a RNG system that makes you accept a much higher cost because you don't get told the probability of items. Bungie just tells us which items we get by chance without any method to evaluate the potential price tag! That's not a fair buissines tactic. IGN needed around 100$ to get all items from the FotL packages. That's the price of the whole vanilla game plus HoW and CE. Do you think that's an incentive for Bungie to bring us more planets, cutscenes and missions, or will they make more superfluous 'events' to sell you even more of that wonderbag stuff? Would you buy any good in a shop where you have to pay first and then roll on a secret loot table? You want some german beer and get 5x root beer and some bread instead? Would you pay until you got your real beer? Thanks for the intense discussion. Never tought this would go that far. Edit: Corrected a spelling error. (I am german. Hints on how to write something correctly are appreciated.)

  • Microtransactions and premium currency always lead to games in which the primary focus is on selling microtransactions and premium currency, NOT on making the best game experience possible. Every major update offers shiny new toys for sale, while bugs never get fixed, basic functionality never gets added, and gameplay gets more and more time-consuming and tedious. I blame Bunglevision and all the game companies that adopted a premium currency/microtransaction model, but I've reached the point where I place most of the blame on gamers who shell out for that stuff. Think you're helping me by paying for my content? Hardly. I'd much rather buy my games outright and not have to deal with this kind of bait-and-switch, sleight-of-hand nonsense. Thanks to microtransactions and premium currency, I can no longer find any new games worth playing. Besides, Destiny already costs a premium price and that free DLC still hasn't materialized. So quit pretending that you're helping me out. Yes, it's your money and you're allowed to spend it as you see fit, but by supporting this greedy practice, you're ensuring it won't stop. So if you buy microtransactions or premium currency, I blame YOU for what's happened to gaming. PS: The industry standard term for people who spend lots of money on premium currency is whale. Which doesn't sound bad until you remember what whalers do to the whales they catch. Don't be a whale for these people.

        • Not one cent spent on anything besides the game and each dlc. Though i wanted the slow clap for when my friends go full retard but not enough to pay 5$ for it. Though i would have gotten my moneys worth by this point.

          • Don't call us stupid for liking our guns to be different colors. We know it's a waste, but if we have money to spare, and nothing else to spare it on, then it isn't a bad decision. Bungie will never make a game PTW. They're selling cosmetics. No one's making you pay. TLDR; -blam!- off, why do you care? It's my money.

I buy silver and will continue to do so. I make a very comfortable living and what I throw my money away on, frankly has no impact on you. The stuff Bungie sells for real world $ is purely cosmetic (emotes, weapon skins, sparrows, etc.). If you're suggesting that by paying for this content we're somehow encouraging Bungie to charge for content that they should/would be giving away to everyone, well that's complete nonsense. If people weren't buying this stuff, then Bungie wouldn't be wasting their time to develop it. It would simply go away because it wouldn't be worth their time to develop. So either buy it if you want, or don't if it's not worth it to you. That's how capitalism works. We vote with our dollars and the products that don't generate revenue go away, they don't just become free for the masses. On this point: Would you buy any good in a shop where you have to pay first and then roll on a secret loot table? You want some german beer and get 5x root beer and some bread instead? Would you pay until you got your real beer? Paying money for a chance to win something you want? People do it all the time. It's called gambling.

              • Idiots like myself have spent thousands of dollars on RNG cosmetic items in games. Bungie isn't bad at all yet, but the door has been opened.

              • I've played this game religiously since I got it back in January, almost everyday since then. But I'm done. I hadn't played in a few weeks, but I came back because I wanted to check out FotL, having not been around for the first one, and this is what I get? A whole event locked behind microtransactions? Screw you, Bungie.

              • Why do people insist that if we argue against microtransactions is because we are poor? I buy halo 5 req packs all the time. Because there are TONS of weapon skins, armor, and weapon varients to unlock. This shit your defending has absolutely zero in game value whatsoever, it doesnt increase your stats or anything. So why cant you have the chance to get everything by just playing the game? And to make it worse its RNG, you can drop $20 and still wont get what you . Rise of Iron is barely a month a old and they're already milking you for mone with worthless cosmetic microtransactions. Bail out now. This game is dried up...Go play Battlefield 1, Gears of war 4, Titanfall 2, or Forza Horizon 3, Stop dropping $30 on microtransactions when they are not giving you anything worth value in return.

                • Quite frankly I won't buy anything additional on a game. I paid for a game and investment in destiny has been much higher than any game so far, so that to me is enough money spent. I have no problem with players spending their money that's their choice and we are all free to do what we like with it.

                • I'd buy silver if the quality of Destiny hadn't been so poor year 1 to 2. As it stands, having dropped $100 at launch for the collectors edition I still feel like there's a debt owed game content/quality wise. This is not the Bungie I remember.

                • I just used the free silver that Bungie gave. Never bought any silver not because I'm against it, (after all they sell cosmetic not game changing items), but because I never saw anything that was really appealing to me.
