So, let's talk about Skill-Based Matchmaking...

Connection-Based Matchmaking should be implemented

Skill-Based Matchmaking should stay

*Just a fair bit of warning: SBMM really ticks me off, so I get a bit angry in some parts, but otherwise I try to keep calm. Also, this is just my opinion, so I'm not saying that what I say is right and everyone else is wrong: I'm merely just saying what I think needs to happen.* We all know the situation: you are in a mood to play some casual crucible. You got your Monte Carlo and Fusion rifle combo on a Sunsinger and are just going in to have fun with a quirky loadout. So you select a playlist and wait in orbit for a match. You wait about a solid 5 to 10 minutes before you actually get a game. As you're loading in, you notice that you're the only ship traveling towards the match, and you hear gunfire while traveling. You spawn in and see one of these following scenarios: A. The game is halfway over, and you are on the losing team. B. Everyone's redbar, and shots aren't registering. C. Everyone's super sweaty, and it is nearly impossible to use the fun loadout you have. D. All of the above. You decide that you aren't going to put up with that lobby, so you leave. You return to orbit and que up once again. After waiting another 5 minutes, you join another lobby of the exact same type of scenario. So now you're beggining to become salty. You try a different playlist, but the same thing happens over, and over, and over again. Now you've just given up. You switch back to your Clever Dragon/Matador loadout and now just have to play sweaty matches, not having any fun. And you know why this happens? Because of Skill-Based Matchmaking. Now, I have around a 1.9 to a 2 KD in the crucible, so what Skill-Based Matchmaking does is it pairs you up with people of equal or higher skill, meaning that I am being put against people around the same KD as me every game. This means that every match is always sweaty, and it is nearly impossible to use any fun guns at all. Why, just the other day I was trying to use test weapons in a control match, and I nearly broke my controller because I couldn't find a match in any playlist that wasn't all sweats. I was playing a game a clash, and the whole enemy team was a fireteam of 6, and they were all red-baring, resulting in our team absolutely getting destroyed. When I asked why their internet was so bad, they responded saying that they were all from Brazil, meaning that I was playing people over 6,000 kilometers away just because we had the same stats. Seriously, WHY THE HELL IS THAT A THING? Now things weren't always like this: Year 1 matchmaking, in my opinion, was by far the best, smoothest, and most fun. Why? Because it was PURELY Connection-Based, meaning that you are put against people who are local, and have MUCH better internet. This type of matchmaking made SO MUCH MORE SENSE because it eliminated 2 major problems: Orbit waiting times, and laggy connections. But after Skill-Based was installed in December 2015 WITHOUT THEM EVEN TELLING US, connections have gone down the drain, every match is a constant sweat, and honestly crucible isn't as fun. One of the arguments on why SBMM is a good thing is saying that it helps average/under-skilled players get better and have an easier time, but why? Why should the more expirienced, veteran players who have played from Day 1, be punished for having a high KD? Why, instead of being rewarded for skilled play, are we punished for it? Crucible wasn't meant to be competetive: it was meant to be casual, and SBMM is making it impossible to play casual. Please, PLEASE Bungie: Revert back to Connection-Based Matchmaking. Crucible was so much better and smoother back then, and us veteran players are tired of playing sweaty every match. Crucible NEEDS to be casual again. What do you guys think? Leave a comment and/or vote in the poll and leave your opinion, but please try to keep things positive: this is a place for everyone's opinion to be heard. Thanks a lot guys, and have a fantastic day.
