The New Festival of the Lost quest requires you to get solar ability kills in the plague lands and get kills with the Iron Axe. This indicates Saladin is a master of solar light.
During the Sunbreaker quest Zavala says "it is time that fire return home to keep the city and her walls warm throughout the long knight." Meaning no one in the Vanguard or City can summon the Hammer of Sol including Saladin.
As the title says. A guess this just shows that we are not yet done exploring the existing elements. The classes can master other light techniques within the same element.

In this Destiny 2 image leak we a solar Titan with a shield.
Perhaps the next game is expanding on this idea. I wonder what the new Void and arc subclasses would look like.

2 RepliesI don't have high hopes on seeing those leaked subclasses, weren't they scrapped?

I've wanted a Light element, just raw Light granted by the Traveler

1 ReplySaladin is a sunbreaker. He is only in the Tower for one event a month. Pre RoI, of course. So the dialogue for the Sunbreaker quest is still meaningful. Zavala defender. Shaxx striker.

I realized this when i first got the quest step

Saladin isn't part of the city. He represents the Lords of Iron, which is a faction separate from The City, as stated by Saladin himself, that the vanguard doesn't know about SIVA because it is his responsibility as the one of the last Lords of Iron, indicating that he has no responsibilities to the Vanguard or The City. In fact, in this FotL, when you talk to him as part of the quest, he even seems ignorant to the FotL, showing that he doesn't even live in the City (otherwise he would know its customs). Since he isn't part of the City, it's very possible for him to be a Sunbreaker titan that simply doesn't work for the Vanguard. But, if he were a solar Titan but not a sunbreaker, it would still make sense. Guardians are known to shape and control elemental light, so why would every guardian have to have the same set of abilities that we, the players are constrained to? Food for thought. Maybe something Bungie should think about for Destiny 2.

& that is why nothing in the game/grimoire is cannon. Everything can be interpreted in many different ways.

Saladin was around in the late Dark Ages, before the City was even born. It's possible that he became a Sunbreaker before they became outcasts from the City.

Those aren't Destiny 2 "leaked" images. They were rejected concept art. People enjoy twisting words and using words to hook people in. Like in the YouTube video you linked. Long before this started floating around YT it was already confirmed (numerous weeks ago) that this was rejected art.

2 RepliesNo, Lord Salad Bar isn't a solar Titan. The axes use capacitors to heat up the metal. This causes it to burst into flames. I think Saladin is a striker Titan.
