I don't like how my character looks and I think I have a good solution.
A Spark of Light is a powerful consumable. It can level you from 1 to 25 (TTK) or 1 to 40 (RoI). The process is irreversible. What if presenting The Speaker with a Spark of Light started a quest line to remodel your character?
1. Present The Speaker with a Spark of Light
2. Visit the VoG and consume your Spark
3. Time rewinds to the character creation screen
4. Time replays, preserving your faction ranks and inventory
This would make The Speaker somewhat useful again, reuse existing maps, and add new value to a Spark of Light. As someone with 3 level 40 characters, my Spark takes up vault space, but this would let me use it.
If someone used their Spark already, or has many characters they'd like to remodel, a Spark can be purchased through the appropriate platform store. $30, on the PS store, seems a bit high for character remodeling, but I'm pointing out that most of the mechanics are already in place.
What do you think?
Edit:
What if Tess sold sparks for silver coins? To get the idea rolling I'll say 1000 silver ($10) for a spark of light. I agree with everyone that $30 from the ps store is too expensive.

Yes, My lock looks like a blind robot witg stuff squirted in his face
-
That'd actually be pretty neat!
-
People in real life don't like how you look.
-
10 dollars to change how my character looks? -blam!- outta here giving bungo stupid ass money grabbing ideas. You should have a barbershop, tattoo store to change hair and facial stuff. And then a technician to change exos. Which should be implemented. For. Free. FREE.
-
Edited by TheCONman009: 10/26/2016 1:32:33 AMI hope you were joking about the 30$ lol, "hmm, should I buy dinner for my family...or actually you know I don't like the tattoo I have on my warlock's face that is usually covered by a helmet." Free please The rest of your idea I like tho
-
They should give the sparks 2 uses 1) to level character to 40 2 ) if you have a character at 40 let you use it to either max a subclass or give tons of xp
-
Except some of us never got a 40 Spark because we had all 3 characters at 40 pre RoI
-
That's great idea.
-
Thank you everyone for your comments! Positive, negative, excited, indifferent, I have read them all and they're wonderful. Thank you again for being a part of my idea.

I follow these forums like a girl follows Facebook, and this is Probs the best version of this idea I've ever seen. But knowing bungie, they won't acknowledge or even comment on why or why not it should/can't be done. Idk why but they still ignore it. Just even do it like any other game, just have a place to change your guardians face how hard is that
-
Lol that moment when you spend more time in the tower than playing
-
Orrrrrrrrr use a completely different thing. I understand the spark of light idea but maybe something else that's only used for remodeling. Also they can make it cost silver dust

Or you know, just a small mission that sees you fight endless of thralls, get separated form your ghosts.... and.... Character creation, back to first mission, just change text of the ghost a bit and add references to 'his past guardian'. After cinematic of the ship going off: - speaker cinematic - little movie of fights and co Fast forward... - Cinematic: Ghost: There's something I need to tell you... My first guardian... All his gear... he.. left it to me. And now, after all these fights we have been through together, me and you...I want you to have it. (get all your gear back but for one). I just wish we could get [insert exotic or primary weapon you had on during mission your initial character died] back... but..It still is where he died. I wonder... Start new mission: You basically go, face a few waves of ennemies, then have to fight a wizard/bloodmother. Once defeated, you get your weapon back. Rep: all rep rankings stay the same, because they are your first guardian and ghost rep... (far fetched, but hell...) Have a first mission taking you back to where the past guardian died.

Since VOG is "disconnected" from our timeline, this would make sense. This is awesome! Bump! But what if we want to change character things again? We only get the one, are we limited to that one only?
-
How about lets not make it a -blam!-ing circus quest and bungie just gives us the quite common option of changing our characters appearance? Keep talking the way you are and they might decide we'd pay silver for the option!
-
I'm not paying anymore money out for this game. Story was to short, not enough new exotics to find, raids easy already getting bored.
-
Vault all of your things delete character start anew..
-
Imo the speaker should be our mentor. He is the voice of the traveler, basicly the thing we are protecting for 3 years. Why isnt the guy guiding us, teaching us new ways to use the light and whatnot?
-
Do people even remember the Speaker can trade old materials for glimmer or motes, he is still useful if you know how to use him.
-
The best solution is prevention, Put thought into it before progressing. That way, you won't feel depressed about looking at fictional character in a fictional game.
-
I'm not paying money just too change my appearance bro. It isn't that deep!!
-
It's a pretty good idea but we'll probably be creating new characters in Destiny 2
-
I think they should just let people have the option to adjust character appearance. Those level up items should be exchangeable for something.
-
That's actually a really interesting idea. The price would have to drop or there will be people asking for a nerf to prices
