Posted by: evilcam Botulism can make things taste metallic. Though usually it deadens your sense of taste so much that you can't really taste anything. There are also brain chemistry issues that can make your brain get your sense confused, and detect things incorrectly. I have one of those conditions. I hear colors and have difficulty defining proportions sometimes. I also have a metallic taste in my mouth sometimes. I never taste my hands, and don't like snuff though, so I don't know if it extends to my hands. I say, have fun with it.
Nice analogy and Linguistics 0o [Edited on 05.05.2010 9:13 AM PDT]

I'm thinking blood. Or just ignore me and go see a trained physition. Ways to solve this are: A.) Stop tearing your lip skin off, chewing tobaccie and let your teeth holes heal. Or B.) Stop drinking blood you vampire! I hope you arne't a vampire for your comrades sake.

Blood creates a metallic taste in your mouth, as do open spots where teeth have recently been removed. I had over half of my "baby" teeth removed due to them not loosening and "Adult" teeth coming in pre-maturely. Days after that if I put my tongue to the open place where the tooth was, there was a strange metallic taste. However if you are on any form of pain meds for the Wisdom Teeth removal, side effects may cause dry mouth, or metallic tastes. I've had both. I have braces and always have a faint metallic taste anyway. As other posters said, it is possible you could have too much Iron in your diet, or too less of otherthings. anyway that's just my 2.5 cents ._.

I will post the most obvious reason for a metal taste in your mouth: BLOOD It makes sense...You're chewing tobacco and cutting your mouth open. You peeled off some skin in your mouth. And your wisdom teeth pockets could be bleeding....
Posted by: Spartan117_Chief Ah didnt want to be roasted. Richard
Its probably either the metal you handle, or the lack of iron/potassium in your diet. I suggest eating at LEAST lunch and dinner, put some potassium and iron in your diet, supplements are exactly that, SUPPLEMENTS to what you're supposed to be eating. Keep yourself in shape, soldier.

Oh, and I dont really have like any potassium in my diet. I don't think I have a lot of iron either though because I always feel cold. I usually dont eat breakfast or lunch, I have some kind of sandwhich with water for dinner, and when I workout I take supplements and have a protein shake. Richard

I wasn't licking my hands, I was putting a dip in, and noticed that my finger tasted like metal. So I washed them, then I made sure there wasn't tobacco getting into my open wisdom tooth holes and it still tasted like metal, so I repeated the process, took my dip out and brushed my teeth. Then later on my lips were peeling so I tore a piece of skin off that was bothering me and the taste came back. So I brushed and listerined, which burned the holes, I was sayud. Then I came here. Richard

Or it might've been potassium I was thinking about.. Oh well. one of the two.
