They do. It's just that their objective is to farm kills in order to boost their ego...erm, I mean K/D. To be really fair, though, there's not a lot of reward to "playing the -blam!-ing objective" since the majority of the game types in Destiny are just glorified TD. Rift and Supremacy are really the only ones. I'd say Salvage, too, but I've played that before and I think I'm the only person that actually tries to salvage relics.

The issue is kills award too many points in objective game modes. When Rift first came out, no one ever went for the spark because you could win on kills alone. As things are now, playing the objective is trivial with the exception of Supremacy (Which is why so many dislike it)
